FFP

by West Stand Man » 15 Dec 2014 15:50

So, 3 clubs have just been given transfer embargoes (Blackburn, Forest and Leeds). They have to demonstrate that they have got their finances in order before they can re enter the market after June 2015. So, that is what we are trying to avoid, and it is not an idle threat from the League.

Still very worrying that even after the sale of Alfie, Morro and McCarthy we were still worrying about making a lose of more than £8million....

Making a lose scares me a lot too.

Unsurprising. None of them were likely to be our biggest earners. Wages are the killer and the last time we were in the Championship we made a loss of £12m.

For 14-15 the target figure is a loss of less than £6m.

Believe the rules are going to change in 2015 with clubs being allowed to lose more before being in breach

You really couldn't make it up could you. FFP system being amended to allow clubs to lose shed loads more and only being applied to 72 of the 92 clubs.

It is changing to look at 3 years together so a club can lose more than the limit (from memory £2m this season) in a single year but not averaged over 3 years.

BTW QPR have been told by FL that if they don't pay the FL fine under FFP they will not enter the 72 if relegated but will have to go to the Conference. Seems FL is at least trying to get the clubs in line. I wish them luck.

The FFP system is being amended to move in line with UEFA's and therefore ALL 92 clubs will be in line, at the moment it is the 72 who are different from the 20 Prem clubs.

It's typical that something like this is introduced when for the first time ever we (supposedly!) have owners who have money to spend! It's like 1995 all over again!

The 72/92 makes it all pointless really but if the UEFA ruling comes into play it may help. Still, the bigger the club the more advantage, but I guess if it brings wages/fees down it can't be a totally bad thing, can it?

I believe the rules are changing so you'll be allowed a smaller loss but the overall loss that can be financed by the owners will be increased.

The figures were roughly £3m acceptable loss, up to £12m if the owner finances the loss. Those are just what I remember and may not be the exact figures.
