If we can afford him and he wants to come here, Pulis all day long.

Not keen on Pulis, but his ability is unquestionable. I think we might be too big a step down although a short-term project to keep him busy with an option to talk to PL clubs might suit just to steady our ship.

Hughton, Clarke maybe.

Dolan would be my favourite.

Definitely not Parky, Brynjar or those pcunts Keane / Di Canio.

Dolan.

Failing that Parky, Pulis or Steve Clarke. Perhaps Zola

 @ people seriously suggesting Tony Pulis. I'll return my ST if we appoint him. You thought watching us play this season has been boring? I'd rather watch paint dry than his Stoke side. I'm sure playing hoof-ball with a sociopathic baseball cap-donning northerner for a manager is an exciting prospect for any youngster selecting his youth team.

You all want us to become the next Stoke?

nailseabiscuitman Tim Sherwood

I'd rather cut off my own genitals and make a spicy curry from them than see him in charge of Reading.

If it sorts our defense out then I couldn't give a fcuk. His record speaks for itself.

Royal Lady Sir Steve for me

Even though he's retired and said he doesn't have the desire anymore? There's no need to always live in the past.

His record of turning Stoke into a laughing stock?
His transfer record of signing Dave Kitson for £5.5m?

Early favourite is Steve Clarke at 3's, followed by Pulis at 4's and Tim Sherwood at 5's.

It depends whether we want success or beautiful football.

Essentially Coppell, McDermott, Pardew and even McGhee played a certain brand of 'Get at 'em quick' football. Look how Newcastle play. Dull for a while - cross your fingers - ride your luck then get at them fast!!!

Rodgers, Adkins and even Tommy Burns went for 'their style' and 'their players'.

It just doesn't work with us. We are not a particularly sophisticated fan base (speak for myself, i know) and we just like to watch a team having a good go, preferably at a decent tempo.

This is why Guthrie struggles. This is why Karacan is a huge loss at the moment and why people were sad to see Jay Tabb go (was this an Adkins decision or hadn't he started then? They were pretty close together).

I therefore declare Pulis' up and at-em style is probably our way forward. Sorry for you pretty football types. No good at the Mad Stad.

I wouldn't describe McDermott's style as the same as Coppell, Pardew or McGhee's. I'd say Adkins was closer to them than McDermott. The misleading difference being McDermott was successful and Adkins hasn't been.

Burns and Rodgers is a good comparison.

His record of getting Stoke up and keeping them in the Premiership for 5 seasons... and an FA cup final
His record of joining Palace in dire straits and guiding them to 11th?

Guthrie struggles because he's a reserve. He's never been a regular at any of his clubs save for 1 season in the Championship with Newcastle. For some reason the fans at this club have got it into their heads that he's a brilliant football genius, same as they appeared to believed that Nigel Adkins was the second coming of Rinus Michels.
