Interesting how Gunter was the face of the Thai event, alongside Clarke/Howe.

SCIAG
Hoop Blah
Haag Royal What's good about the signings so far is that it provides a whole new spine to the team.

Back in the day we have Hannaman, Sonko/Ingar, Sidwell/Harper and Doyle/Kitson and now the shape looks like Bond, Hector/McShane, Williams/Quinn and Sa/Pog. Since 106 season we have never looked so secure through the middle

That's the way to build a team

That's quite a leap of faith considering they haven't even played a game together yet!

Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. We haven't seen Sa play yet and two of the other signings come with a big element of risk. Unlikely it will be as good a spine as the last one which got us promoted, or the ones in the seasons either side. Or either team straight after relegation...

I'm looking for a season of stability and signs of improvement. Not all the signings or academy graduates are going to work out. Somethings been wrong at the club for a while. A good clear out and fresh blood is perhaps what was required.

I heard they've refused to renew some people's season tickets and have recruited a lot of Palace fans as part of this fresh start.....

Gunter is a decent player, but let's be honest, he's a bit wet. Not Captain material IMO.

And he's proved that.

You could make him a deputy, but it'd be weird to take it off him then give it back again when nothing's really changed.

Quinn for me.

Gunter is a quietly spoken, squeaky clean and presentable member of our squad. He's probably one of the more recognisable players in that part of the world as well as being one of the most senior players in the squad.

He's as perfect a PR frontman for the squad as we have at the moment.

He certainly doesn't come across as a leader though.

He was very vocal when he was captain. Admittedly there's a difference between being vocal and a captain.

Interesting how many people think Pog will be a starter at the end of August. I'm pretty sure if Clarke gets what he wants then Pog won't be near the first 11. He would have been shipped out already if it weren't for his ridiculous contract. Surely it will be Sa/Beric or Sa/new striker? I'd even have Sa/Cox or Samuel? Just keep Pog out of the team.

I think in defence we will see a big improvement and much more confidence in the players. It should be really good to have Hector and Cooper learning from McShane and we could see them develop into quality defenders.

Its funny that many of you thought that Pearce was such an essential part of the team meanwhile I was saying all last season that he was a liability and had to go. Watch and see the difference now that he's gone.

You say that, but Clarke brought in two strikers and had Cox available too last summer. He chose to play Pog almost every game he could despite that.

Sa is apparently not a lone striker, so who do you think Clarke would play with him instead of Pog? Samuel, Cox, HRK or Blackman? Seems somewhat unlikely. Pog's not even close to worth the money we've paid for him, but he's not terrible, particularly if you're not relying on him for goals. If Sa can come in and be the main goalscorer, Pog may actually do alright. Don't get me wrong, I wish he'd oxf*rd off elsewhere. But I don't see us paying him and not using him for:
Cox - a player Clarke doesn't seem to rate
Samuel - a player with no championship experience
Blackman or HRK - not genuine strikers.

So, Nigel Howe confirms we still want both Donaldson and Beric - two more strikers, on top of Sa. That practically confirms one of Pogrebnyak and Cox will leave, maybe even both. Up front is a priority for him and the club, which is great to hear!

Still think we need a striker with real pace.

Surely what we really need is a pacey winger who can supply the bullets for our multi national star strike force.
