w_r reporting live from Basingstoke

Looks a strong U21 team. The likes of Tanner, Kelly, Cardwell and Owusu all involved. Also a first look at Semedo.

Reading legends James Harper and Louis Soares start for the 'Stoke.

I predict a loan player incoming from Spurs in the next 7 days.

I'd go for either Martin Chivers or maybe Ralph Coates

0-0 half time so not really.

Reading much the better side but haven't made the most of their chances. Semedo is clearly a very tidy footballer but he'll take a while to get used to the English game.

Sheppard is a tank and Kelly/Tanner are several classes above the rest.

That's your lot for now.

Managed to throw away a 2 goal lead to lose 3-2. Husin and a (not particularly good) trialist the scorers.

Nothing really to add to the above except that Husin was very impressive when he came on and I don't really understand what Vastsuk is still doing at the club

Hyam, Dickie and Moore injured

Team:
Ward
Shepherd, Jules, Fridjonssen, Lawal
Semedo, Shaugnessy, Kelly, Owusu
Tanner
Cardwell

2nd half (8 subs)
Southwell
Watson, Shaugnessy, ?, Lawal
Triallist (Andrew ?), Trialist (Miroslav ?), Collins, Tanner
Husin
Vastuk

0-0 at half time, but we were easily the better team. Noor Husin scored the opener with a cool finish after our forwards put the Stoke defenders under pressure in their box. 2nd goal was a total fluke, the trialist in CM (Miroslav?) had a shot deflected that looped over their keeper. Then after about 70 mins, Stoke made a few subs and one of them (George?) scored an incredible hat trick in about ten mins to win the game. Tanner, Lawal and Shaugnessy were replaced by Kelly, Owusu and Fridjonssen who came back on after 75.

For me, stand out players were Kelly, Tanner, Lawal, Semedo, Husin and the trialist on the right wind second half. Good performance for a very young team (many were still scholars second half) against a physical but limited adult team

Also, Squeeky was at the Stoke game and stayed for the 90. Presumably, watching the trialists...

The Spurs report suggested that Bond had a very good game and the goal took a deflection to get past him.

Pictures show Keown, Fosu, Blackman, Gunter, Tshibola, Akpan, Pogrebnyak, Norwood, Quinn and questionably Long, Williams' tatood arm & Sa, the report additionally mentions Bond, Obita and Taylor.

Only scholar in that team (except the mystery ones) is Luke Southwood in goal.

The mystery centre back could have been Marc Ethelston, Gabriel Osho, Axel Andresson, or Tom McIntyre, or maybe Harrison Bennett. Osho is black and McIntyre has dark hair. The others can be hard to distinguish from a distance but there are pictures here. Ethelston is most likely, assuming he's fit.

It was definitely McIntyre. Who looked very decent for a first year scholar. Classy footballer.

McIntyre played against Beaconsfield as well.
He's going to get games for the u21's this season I expect, so can see him getting involved in the preseason.
He's already signed a 2 year pro deal.

No, he's just signed a scholarship contract.
I'd imagine we'll look to tie him to a pro contract as soon as he turns 17 in November though, if he's that highly rated.
