It seems unusual to say but I'm not actually sure about this one. Al Habsi used to be pretty good but then from what I remember became far more prone to mistakes, I remember one howler that came against us in a Premier League game I went to when he played for Wigan.

He wouldn't be my choice now to be honest but maybe I'm being a bit unfair, he could end up doing well here.

Clever move by Clarke. Get him on trial (free) while we chase other targets. We have a keeper for our tour, we can suss him out and if we cant get one of our other targets then we have a more than capable keeper on the cheap until Jan.

Also frees up cash for signings further up the field.

Clever management.

Royal Ginger I quite like Al-Habsi. Not indifferent to Federici in some ways in that he'll pull of a string of spectacular world beating saves before letting in a howler.

Pure speculation: IF the Myhill chat has some grounding in reality, would Al-Habsi not make a decent stop gap until January when Foster should be back allowing a re-evaluation then?

I guess you meant not UNLIKE Federici... but we get your drift

Federici is a much better keeper than this clown. Several years ago my kids and I nicknamed him Al-Dropsi. It used to be quite funny watching him make mistake after mistake on MOTD. Probably won't be quite so funny when he's the keeper in our team however :(. I think all the Fed's haters on this forum will be wishing we still had him come Xmas.

I think you'll be sadly disappointed on that score. Feds was a good keeper but nothing more. Al-Habsi is very similar and has a mistake or two in him, just as Feds did. If we sign him, I'll not be jumping for joy but I'll not be disappointed. Just like Feds, he'll do a decent job in the Championship.

Would rather we play this Bond fella. At least if he makes mistakes there's some kind of end product in developing a player with potential.

Wouldn't mind him as a number 2 if he knew he was just that and nothing more.

It appears that Stoke have targeted Al Habsi as backup for Butland, so we may not need to worry about the comparisons to Fed's, Bond, etc.

Dave-Royal told you he signed today don't listers to me !!!! Dave RFC royal :D

Of course you said he's signing today (it's just that I can't find the post where you said it - the only post I could see from you was where you said we had no chance of signing him). Must be my lack of understanding of English which confused me.

2 year deal. Happy with that. Keeps can play on in to their late 30's so it's low risk. Bond will push him hard for the no.1 shirt.
