Reading's best ever left-back?

Ian Harte for me, trumping Nicky Shorey. Just hung up his boots. Happy retirement, Hartey!

Got to be Bertrand for me, absolute class act. Also a big fan of Chris Armstrong while he was at the club, fully deserved POTS.

I'll discount loanees

Best? Shorey. Leyton Orient Reserves to the England team in 6 years and all for £25,000.

Favourite? Dylan Kerr or Steve Richardson.

Shorey definitely, although he did his best to ruin that opinion after his England call up. Bertrand probably next but we only saw a season of him at a time he was just hitting PL standards.

Harte was great for us but completely exposed in the Premier League

Harte was a great free kick taker but a long way from our best ever left back. Probably our worst first choice left back since pre-Shorey. Armstrong, Bertrand and Bridge are certainly ahead of him, the only questionable one is Obita - and I don't think it's questionable if you compare them when they were playing with McAnuff.

It's comfortable Shorey for me. I don't really remember Kerr too well but he was good. I'd probably stick him at fifth. Bridge immediately behind Shorey, then Armstrong, then Bertrand.

Armstrong ahead of Bertrand? Really? Can't pack that one away.

Depends. Best left back whilst they were at the club, probably Bertrand, best left back who as played at the club, Harte will be right up there, he was immense at Leeds.

If he'd stayed fit i think it could have been Bridge. He was the best player on the pitch by some margin for those first few games.

We've been incredibly lucky with left backs this century.

1. Shorey
2. Bertrand.
3. Armstrong
4. Harte
5. Obita

for me.

How on earth can Bridge come into the reckoning. He only played 12 times!
