Opposition fans before the game

by URZZZZZ » 14 Sep 2015 19:06

We already have a thread for opponents views after the game so figured I'd start one to see what they think before the game.

Selection of quotes :

"Watching them paste Ipswich on Football League Tonight as we speak. This is going to be tough"

"No stopping us now. 2-0 to us and another brace for Big Bad Chrissy Martin!"

"Gonna be tricky this, Blackman looks pretty decent and that Orlando fella ain't to bad either."

38% of their fans have voted for them to win also

"A win is a must - we don't want the current top two drifting off and anyway we are so much better than Reading!"

"Watched them the other night on sky against Ipswich looked good going forward but dodgy at the back think with our speed going forward will just nick it"

You score 3, we'll score 4

Nothing wrong with that approach

Newsflash: We've only conceded 6 goals in all competitions this season, and two of them were on the first day.

Also worth pointing out we've got the joint 2nd best scoring record in the division (nearly twice that of Derby) and joint 3rd best defensive record.

Reading have allowed their opponents only 10 shots on target so far this season, but they have conceded five goals.

Reading have attempted the most shots overall (78, excluding blocked shots) and the most on target (36) in the Championship so far this season

TBF only one of those goals conceded resulted from good work from the opposition, all the rest where GF/defensive errors. all we need to do is stop making mistakes to make ourselves a very strong unit.

We're already a strong unit. If we had only conceded one goal we'd be almost unbelievable !

Realistically most goals have some kind of defensive error/weakness as a factor, especially if analysed retrospectively (not that they could be analysed in advance )

A tweet from Friday:
@itfcinourblood So Town off to the madejski tonight. Not a happy hunting ground for us against our bogey team reading but I think this will be easy for us.

I wonder if he's been able to clean the egg off his face by now.

I think the restriction on characters from Twitter has missed off the last part

@itfcinourblood So Town off to the madejski tonight. Not a happy hunting ground for us against our bogey team reading but I think this will be easy for us providing Nick Blackman doesn't play.

This type of thread only works if we win the game and the opposition fans were boasting about how they were going to beat us. Maybe we should make it a retrospective "What opposition fans were saying before we thrashed them" thread to avoid us ending up as the ones with extra egg on our faces if their predictions turn out to be spot on!

What were the Derby fans doing when they bounced up and down mumbling something in their stupid Oxf*rd accents?

Something to do with if you're not bouncing around then "you're a red" - obviously a Forest reference.

Everton fans

"I watched Reading play on the box a week or so ago and I must say I was impressed, they moved the ball around quickly and with purpose. Our defensive problems mean that the young lads playing as full backs may be stretched by speed and a volatile and vociferous home crowd"

"This will be a hard game, they have won 4 from the last 5 games"

"Reading is an absolute oxf*rd."

'volatile and vociferous' Thesaurus discovered in Scouseland!

I'm not sure how vociferous 12,000 day trippers leaving at 75 minutes are going to be...
