Happy 25th anniversary at the helm of our club, SJM. The club would not have achieved what it has in that time without your involvement. Only an idiot would begrudge you the (relative) fame our success has brought you. Any mistakes you have made in your tenure have been honest ones with the club at heart. Thanks for your part in elevating our mickey mouse football club to unknown heights.

I've given you a bit of gip on here recently but I agree with you.

He's always done his best for the club and we certainly wouldn't be here without him.

Agree, if/when the stadium name change occurs, I hope one of the stands are named after him - West probably. The Sir John Madejski Stand... on a similar note, the same for SC (not the current SC though!), maybe even a statue too

Love SJM

The evolution of the club since his takeover until 2005/06 was flawless and set us in an amazing position looking back at where we were, whilst mistakes have been made since and he probably did step aside a few seasons too late (and I do find him a little tiresome), can't say he's been anything but great for the club. We're still looking pretty damn decent for the long term future .

Thanks SJM.

You saved me an absolute fortune in phone bills. Ringing up Gowrings Royaline every day to find out of you still had a football club to support isn't cheap I can promise you.

Total legend. A reference point for club owners / chairmen with only the best interest of the club at heart and a real feeling for what the supporters want.

English football would be so much better if more clubs (Portsmouth, Leeds, Northampton, Coventry, Bolton, Hereford...) were run by people like you.

I remember in the past someone suggested a statue of SJM and SC celebrating winning the league, I loved that idea and I still do.

Ditto, it's a really easy, cheap way to make the ground a much more personable and interesting place. Not just a big bowl with a hotel next to B&Q.

Probably not cheap - but a great idea, and a fitting and permanent tribute for when it's renamed the Bank of Thailand /SriratchaDome.

What I meant was - cheap compared to structural changes, building work, creating new businesses up there, adding new sections or bars, etc... just something to add a bit of depth and character

Statue outside the ground of Mr Mad is definitely in order and long overdue, might give the place a bit of character and history.

We should build one for Sir Steve as well while we're at it!

Alternatively we could build a fan replica statue adorned with a blue and white hat, face paint and clappers to celebrate our inauguration in 2005 - entitled 'Welcome to the Spackerdome'
