Tommio Dellor said Derby will use him wide of a front 3, of which you said he's useless out wide. What relevance does how bad is he out wide have to do with Derby when they'll use him in a front 3?

:| you do realise a "front 3" means one plays centrally and the other 2 play, errrr, wide

You even quoted it saying they'll use him wide

£8m was a completely unsubstantiated Twitter rumour, no-one actually believes it.

CountryRoyal Derby and Wednesday are bigger clubs with bigger fanbases.

But neither have had more success than us in the past 10 years. This sale shows the club have given up on trying to get promoted and settle for midtable mediocrity whilst letting our rivals have an advantage.

Tommio has had a mare there but the point still stands you said Blackman is crap "out wide" and then say that's where he's scored most of his goals.

It's all academic now, hopefully the Derby forums will be awash with "Where is Blackman's best position?" threads - or more realistically he'll be on the bench as they concern themselves with chasing and solidifying an automatic promotion.

Blackman out wide in a front 3 >>>> Blackman out wide in a 4-4-2

Very different things

I feel like as a board we've gone over this so many times in the last week especially?

I wasn't sure his position for most of his goals but I'm pretty certain it wasn't playing out on the right

You've had a mare by thinking that wide in a 4-4-2 is the same to wide in a 4-3-3

....bit like saying Jamie Cureton wasn't up to much.
Offered very little to the team, but earnt us many points with his goals.

Blackman is not fit to be mentioned in the same thread as our Lord Curo. Cureton's goals were crucial in getting us out of Div 2, Blackman's goals haven't had anything like the same impact ( in fairness you could argue that without them we'd be in the relegation zone now but I'm not going to let reason spoil my post).

It was as a right forward in the 4-3-3.

Sheffield Wednesday target Lee Tomlin to be the back up signing if the Blackman deal falls through. Looks like Wednesday are really going for it. Ah well, we'll see for ourselves in a few weeks.

Forster's goals were crucial in getting us out of League 1. If he hadn't scored those 18 goals that season then the goal hanger wouldn't have had the chance to steal the spotlight in the last game.

Indeed and I can't see how anyone can deem him useless playing in this position, the stats this season do not lie!

I think we will miss him, purely from the fact that I can't see us replacing him adequately unless BM has someone lined up :?:

The Prisoner Know one of his friends. He doesn't want to go. Happy here, but not been offered a new contract. This is the club shipping him out. Simples.

Wasn't going to bother posting this as it's so tenuous and I'm sceptical of it, but since we're talking about people who know him..

A mate of mine is close to one of Gareth McCleary's friends (I did say it was tenuous). The "information" he was given, is that Blackman wants a new contract that is more than double his current one, plus bonuses. Given his headline grabbing form this season and we know there are clubs in the Championship willing to pay big wages, you couldn't blame him for trying, if it's true. However, that's got to be more than we could stretch to.

I'll quailfy this by saying that the guy my mate knows is a current professional who played with McCleary at Forest. That doesn't make the rumour any more reliable, of course.

Will be interesting to see if he plays on Saturday. If not, he's definitely on his way out.
