One of the band members from some band or other, I want to say Manic Street Preachers but the fact they're Welsh is causing me to waiver. They had a Reading flag on stage or something...... someone on here mentioned it the last time this thread title came up

el_presidente John Arlott. Used to cycle to Elm Park & back from Basingstoke

Came in to say this ^^^

Nicholas Hoult (the one that was hammering Lawrence when she did the fappening stuff) is a Reading fan.

Garfy from Birds of a Feather and sometime keyboardist of The Levellers also goes to the occasional game.

Green Yeh I thought the same.

Also to be seen to be "down with the common man", at a football match of all places.

To be fair to Salter he used to be a bin man so hardly needs to go to football to be a fairly credible man of the people...
He is a genuine football fan though, and I suspect not alone in changing allegiance on moving to live in a different town. At least he got it right eventually.

Really? That is quality (if its true) ...

Perhaps we can get him to do couple of songs at halftime instead of trying to persuade someone to try an kick a ball in the next for a fridge full of odd tasting beer.

Think I've mentioned before that pretty sure they all live in around the Reading area, definitely the Bass player.

Just a shame Fat Bob is a fake hoops supporter though.

Indeed, famously said in an episode of The Office that he was a Reading fan. Although it was said for comedic effect and don't think Ricky Gervais has any interest in football in real life.

Hence why I said David Brent. Who is Ricky Gervais????

West Stand Man I loaned my ST to Kate Winslet's brother for one game about 15 years ago!

Her dad and Joss are regulars at the Mad stad.

Her dad is called Roger. Used to live next door to my mate Craig.

Craig and Chloe right?! Yeah they used to live next door to us. I'm pretty sure that Kate has never been to a match so I would agree with the other posts! I've seen Tarrant a lot though around the North west corner so he could be one of the most regular supporters.

Didn't Gillan predate even Roger Smee.
IIRC there was a brief rumour of him putting money in but not sure how serious it ever was. Cannot recall him ever attending games.

Fairly serious, he even released an album around that time with Black Sabbath in readiness of his successful purchase proclaiming the fact that Reading were starting anew and that the zeroes that saw us relegated would (largely) rise again as heroes.

Still doesn't alter the fact that he (Gillan) tried to buy us. Maybe he only turned to the fakes after he was snubbed by us!

And it was definitely post Smee when he tried to buy us. At the time Pensions Theft Bob tried to kill us off, Roger Smee was the only White Knight who came riding to our rescue.

Was a regular at EP

Maybe he could sing the Gillan classic "Roller" at half time?

You need to check your memory !
Gillan was one of several people linked around the proposed merger time.
After Smee had gone bankrupt there was only one person in line to save the club....

Indeed. Gillan was apparently interested in the financially struggling RFC before Fat Bob came in with the TVR plan which was ultimately defeated by Smee/Tranter.
