LWJ
genome Except for the two times he did pass it and we scored twice?

I like Hello John, he is a little clumsy at times though.

I accept that.

But having only missed 3 games home & away all season and seen all the games he has played in, I still don't think he is worthy of a start. That's without mentioning his lack of defensive work.

He seems like he might be a bit of Kebe-type figure (no racisto) in that he'll be generally shit and then come up with a bit of quality out of nowhere. I do think he's capable.

I've liked what I've seen from him every time he's played. He passes it quickly and his first option is always to pass forward if possible. In contrast, everything slows down on Williams as he can't help but run with the ball more often than not and Alex would improve us in that respect.
What we don't know is what that would take away from us defensively as we've not seen enough of Alex. The same goes for playing John more often. I enjoy watching him play but BMc was in his ear for much of last night to keep some sort of shape as he wanders around all over the place. Okay against 10 men perhaps but the first Brentford goal came from him wandering back at a snails pace and that would probably be a regular issue.
It's hard to find the balance between defence and attack as a wide man. McAnuff was very good in that respect and Kebe improved greatly over time. Let's hope Ola can do the same and get some game time.

I had always thought Fernandez was going to the the alternative, more defensively capable, number 10. I totally agree with Ollie's view there about his passing and enjoying watching him (he was excellent once he found his feet in the Everton game) but I can't see McDermott moving away from Williams' power and strength for the time being.

Is Jack Stacey fit and playing at the moment?

no, the early signs suggest however that brian see's him as a squad player ala jay tabb and seems to prefer the midfield 2 of williams and norwood, barring injury i don't see how he would fit into his prefered 442

Alex was great in his time on the pitch last night. Also don't forget we signed a new player yesterday as well a defensive midfielder so we could well see the line up change a bit.

So would you not agree that Williams and Norwood are being preferred over Quinn?

Everyone that is not going to be available to play next season or have there contract renewed should not start.
Be on the Bench or squad member but not start.
Start bedding in a Team ready for next season.

Early days. Once Tish is back then other options will be available to McD. At the moment appears to be a case of continuity of the team.

Quinn is most likely sitting on the bench at the moment to provide cover for both full fullbacks.

Piazon has a good work ethic which is why he gets picked. Tracked back well last night.

I thought he didn't show much effort when we were breaking from our own area

Vydra OTOH would win tackles, pass and sprint to be on the end of a pass in their box

While Piazon sauntered forward, just about making the half-way line
