I feared this news as there hasn't been much said publicly about how he was. So sad and definitely agree that our academy should be named after him.

Condolences to his many friends and family, RIP Eamonn

I work with a friend and ex-colleague of Eamon's who couldn't speak highly enough of him as a fully decent human being. So very very sad.

Sebastian Massive, massive part of the Club, and so central to our success in recent years. Huge loss.

Absolutely gutting, so sorry for his family and friends and sorry for RFC's loss. He did a fantastic job and would have been my preference for our manager.

Devastating news. Always thought he'd be back here as manager when he was better. So sad. RIP Eamonn.

Words cannot express the sadness that I, and everybody involved in Reading Football Club, is feeling at the passing of Eamonn Dolan.

My sympathies go out to his family. Eamonn and his brother Pat have been so instrumental in the success of Reading Football Club, especially under my stewardship as Chairman. We will never forget the enormous contribution that Eamonn bestowed on Reading Football Club. His work at the Academy was the making of Reading Football Club’s greatest ever period of success, and Eamonn played a huge part in that period.

Eamonn was one of the most charming, loyal, wonderful human beings that one could ever wish to meet. His death at the tender age of 48 is an enormous tragedy for everyone.

He was just the most amazing gentleman that you could wish to meet. Loyal, upstanding, and his enthusiasm and devotion to me and Reading Football Club was overwhelming.

I know that we are all saddened by what has happened. But not many people can pass on and leave such a fantastic legacy behind. His contribution is unsurpassable.

Deeply shocked as I thought Eamonn had made a full recovery. An essential part of the club and will be sorely missed.

RIP.

I've recounted this before.
But at one of our Plymouth games, we went to Exeter races beforehand and when we got a lift from the station to the racecourse, the cabbie did nothing but spontaneously recount tales of Eamonn's superbness, particularly about how he was personally responsible for giving youngsters in the area the best opportunity to become professional footballers. Since then, I havent seen any evidence that he has been anything but top drawer. A big loss to our community.

Disagree with this bit. The academy should be named The Eamonn Dolan Academy. That would show the clubs (and fans) appreciation of all he did for the many players that have gone on to play, not only for us, but at the highest level.

A very very sad day.
One of the few people at this club who never divided opinion, but always unified us with our respect to him.
