MATCHWATCH: Royals v Cardiff - BCD Hogwood

by royalp-we » 30 Jul 2016 09:09

Stam said in his post match interview those who didn't play against Bournemouth would get a run out today against Cardiff at the training ground.

The club tend keep quiet on these ones (esp if we lose) so if any one finds info or line ups please post some links.

Kermorgant & Mcleary injured. Interesting to see if Jaakkola, Mendes, Gravenberch & Meite are set to play alongside the likes of Watson, Dickie, Fosu & Samuel etc.

Meite wont have international clearance to play, unless he becomes a "trialist"

Think that's irrelevant for what is effectively a behind closed doors friendly.

Clean sheet, so looks like we've solved the defensive issues
2goals so the attack is fine.
Got to be looking top 6 on the basis of that result, especially as we weren't even at full strength. Worrying for Cardiff though.

Must have been a youth side from Cardiff as their first team were at Bournemouth

Cardiff weren't at full strength either as they are currently losing 1-0 to Bournemouth, so you can't really read too much in to last nights result or today's.

Unless of course Cardiff just went for a run around to get match fit and didn't care too much about the result.

Pre-season results are an irrelevance in isolation, although lots of negative pre-season results are very far from ideal... it's not good to start a season without many wins or goals, or with lots of losses and conceded. What the team is trying to achieve and how it performs at that is what's important in any given friendly.

It means nothing but a run out, no clue about line ups.

First goal a Jake Cooper header from a Kelly free-kick.

Second from Novakovic.

Preston drew 0-0 with Bolton at the Macron.

Roll on next Saturday.

We disagreed earlier on in my HNA? career as you would, but truthfully, since then i have come to respect a lot of what you have said... but this is a wind up surely? How can you possibly assume a final table position based on a "behind closed doors friendly" result? Forgive me if im due a whoosh.

I believe in respecting fellow posters and allowing them to make their own judgements, as adults.
There should be no need for funny little faces at the end of posts telling you if they are a 'joke' or not.
So you decide whether I was serious.
It certainly wasn't a windup, if it wasn't serious then it may just have been a touch tongue in cheek. I wouldn't stoop so low as to wind people up.......

how am i winding you up? i was being deadly serious when i posted that i respect your opinion on a lot of what you say, but quite frankly, do you genuinly believe we are top 6 contenders based on a training ground pre season result???

EDIT: nvm, ive had half a bottle of gin, 4 brewdog IPAs and an uncomfortable skype request from my ex. I know you werent serious... phew...
