Players in and around the first team picture needing game time (Brighton)

Would be interested to hear people's thoughts on who they would like to see in the side facing Brighton tomorrow night.

Whilst we have many players gradually working their way into future first team contention (e.g Liam Kelly), I would also be of the view that this game is an opportunity for a couple of first team players to build up some confidence/momentum going into future league games.

Whilst he is doing a great job winning everything in the air up front, I feel that tomorrow night could be a great opportunity for Kermie to get that goal or two that could really boost his confidence going into our upcoming league games (appreciate though that we only have 2 fit strikers currently if you take Samuel out of the picture)

Having said that, Mendes needs a a substantial amount of game time too against Championship opposition, other than games against lower league opposition we haven't seen too much of him yet other than the sub appearances in the last 10 mins of league games.

Wieser and Gravenberch could do with games.
Obviously we have a game tonight as well so need to balance the sides .
Whether the likes of Kelly and Barratt play tonight or tomorrow is interesting, I'd certainly play Kelly against Brighton.

Honestly I would say we should leave the backline as is. I still like Cooper despite the whole board nodding and saying "hes an accident waiting to happen" but McShane and Moore need as much game time together as possible. Obita maaaybe in and depending on whether or not Gunter needs a rest I would say young Watson should be subbed on against Shiteon.

When is VDB back? Kelly wont make the team ahead of Quinn

Would be good to see Mendes or Meite at some point.

Kelly to get 20 minutes or so off the bench, barring tactical necessity, if not starting.

Mendes, Watson, Cooper and Jaakkola are the ones I either most want to see get time / most need time IMO.

Samuel should probably come off the bench. If they weren't on loan I'd want the likes of Tanner, Fosu and Stacey to play some part too.

I'd play Watson rather than Gunter - given Gunter's record, Watson is not that likely to get much opportunity through injury/tiredness, so for me he should play all of the cup games regardless. At least until the serious end of those competitions, if we get there, in which case it should be whichever of them is best.

Doubt Meite would be ready - I know appendicitis isn't the big deal it was 30 years ago, but you'd think it's got to have an effect somehow.
Want Harriott in for at least 30 minutes - even if he is going to be McCleary's replacement on Saturday.

Would prefer Kelly to Quinn, again to get game time.
