maffff I'd have to do a lot more digging to seriously comment on the finances and I'm not sure there's enough out there that clarifies who is the beneficiary from loans. Someone more intelligent is welcome to research and take a stab at it. This was only meant to be one piece that morphed into two as it is....

No worries. I was just surprised that we were being charged a rate of interest that went through the roof and was far higher than any other Championship club.

My son wrote to Samuelson some years back, asking if Reading FC would in some way sponsor a charity trip he was going on. He replied with a very encouraging letter and a personal cheque from Mr and Mrs Samuelson. Now obviously he's a wealthy man, but he didn't have to do that.

I guess it’s better than sending an obscene photo.

Fat rich man chills out on boat shock.

Not trying to defend Samuelson but he only did what your average hedge fund manager or venture capitalist does. And Vibrac are basically a payday loans company for businesses. If you get in bed with the devil, expect to go to hell. It was Anton with his tales of Bearwood and his father's non existant checkbook that was the real twat.

Yeah, but there's also no point pretending the devil isn't evil just because he's doing what devils do.

Perhaps just surprisingly rational given how long he's been here :P

Totally agree the blame lies with Anton and his dad. If Samuelson hadn't performed his role someone else would have done more or less the same job.

Don't know about rational, long in the tooth, maybe.

I'm not a fan of venture capitalists but the days of football clubs being owned by the philanthropic local guy done good are long gone and his type are more prevalent in the game.

However, Samuelson was not the cause of our problems but was left as the public figurehead of a rotten administration when Anton did his disappearing act back to Russia. As a mouthpiece for the owners, he was a lot more candid and open than Gourlay currently is. I don't particularly like Samuelson but, even with his yacht, he's no Maxwell.

Spotted tonight out in the wonderful world of Chinese Google. Validation in my tweets https://twitter.com/maffff/status/10041 ... 61797?s=19

Through concerted action... China's richest man will buy Britain's Reading football team

China's richest man, is, Xu Jiayin (aka: Hui Ka Yan - of Evergrande Group), worth $42.5bn

https://www.forbes.com/china-billionaires/#442e13a5ae43

Maybe buying Narin's shares?

It was reported in China on 20 May that Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li had rejected an investment offer from Xiu Jiayin of the Evergrande group (owner of Evergrande - close friend of Yongge) for part ownership.
