Next 2 games.

by Nuremberg Royal » 14 Jan 2017 19:37

So now onto Derby and Fulham. I'd love to think we could get something out of these games and a few weeks back I'd have been a lot more certain of at least a couple of points......but the last few games along with the ownership issue have put a major dent in what was a pleasantly surprised resurgence of gentle optimism.
Reading and Jaap Stam had forced me to sit up and take a more serious look at the progress of RFC although I was always concerned that we did not come out of most games with too many compliments for our flowing football.
Perhaps I'm old fashioned but sometimes I have enjoyed a glorious defeat far more than a slightly turgid 1-0 victory having grown up with the Mark McGhee / Reading football approach and fond memories of playing our 'first season after promotion' opener many moons ago at Molineux...losing,but winning many admirers in the process
Throw in that ex players may come back to haunt us yet again with the next 2 games and I'm feeling like only Norwich will sink faster than us....where are those rose tinted glasses when you need them.?
I am comforted by the fact that a lot of folks ( me included) would have been happy with a bottom half finish to the season and some progress....Ah perspective !

Would bite your arm off for two dull 0-0 draws.

As you know Nuremberg Royal it's a trial supporting Reading but I'm sure we'll rally at some point.

Saturday is massive for both us and Derby. They have to win to keep up with the play off teams. If we can beat them they we'd be 9 points clear of them.

How important is Bradley Johnson to Derby? He got sent off in the last game so is unavailable on Saturday.

You just had to ruin the fun, a bit like the U.S and the Soviets.

Our recent record against Derby up at their place is very good. We have had what 2 defeats up there in our last 11 visits winning 8 of them?

I fancy us to get something there. Fulham are a good side, but again there are better sides who we have played this season. I can easily see us getting 4 points from those 2 games.

8 points from the next 4 and we will have a great chance of a playoff campaign.

Normandy I'd be against puns of this nature, but that was pretty good.

Yeah let's get back to the discussion of the games. I hope we've done our homework and Stam has had a propaganda at our opponents match tapes.

Hopefully we can blitz their defence by making a bombing run down the wing....
