Jackson Corner Has it happened before when the three relegated teams Have got promotion following season?

It is likely to happen more now. With the parachute payments giving the regulated clubs more money to keep a bigger squad and keep their best players, whilst the other clubs have to contend with FFP (or is it now S&P?), keeping them down to the smaller squad and not being able to pay their players the same sort of wages.

It couldn’t be any worse but we only have ourselves to blame.

Yes we will look back at the end of the season and know where it went wrong. losing to Wycombe and Birmingham twice 3 missed pens and gaping open goals, nobody to blame but ourselves.

The curse of missed pens and Reading FC. There is a real danger the season could fall very flat. Need to keep pushing for wins.

Only consolation is that three of Brentford, Swansea, Barnsley and AFCB will still be in the Championship next season.

Yep we had enough chances we choked when it mattered. After Cardiff beat us next week we could be looking at an 8th or 9th finish. I think Parlo has to take the blame for this collapse. Poor team selections insistence on playing out from the back. Not to mention stupid subs at the wrong time.

Look back at the beginning of the season and realise that good fortune went our way for those games.

Barnsley score again. Time to admit our season is over. Bournemouth playing their game in hand this week, that will be us five points out of the playoffs. Will be hard to make that up in five games.

Zip
Stranded All those games incl. Norwich are winnable.

WNG.

If Barnsley and Bournemouth win, pressure is totally off us.

Not really. It means the pressure is then on us to win pretty much every game.

But more in hope than expectation. We now esp. If Bournemouth win in the week have very little chance of finishing in the top 6, so pressure should be off.

So just go out, attack, attack, attack and see what happens.

Have we really "collapsed" though?

Or is it simply that we couldn't sustain our amazingly good start, and our form hasn't been much better than decent since those opening eight games?

Rather than being a failure, have we not just done about as well as we could have reasonably expected with this squad? Yeah, we've had some poor results. Which of the other play-off contenders hasn't?

It’s not that our rivals win but

0-1 Norwich

2-0 Watford

0-5 Brentford

0-3 Swansea

2-0 Barnsley

4-1 Bournemouth

Six out of Six wins 17 Goals to 1

That is simply incredible!

Was nice while it lasted, end of the day the top 6 have been better than us, no dispute. if it wasn`t for the great start we would be mid table.

I think it is a conspiracy. The Premier League don't want us! They know we are too good for them!

I know this team have played some good football at times this season and people are, consciously or subconsciously, looking for ways to excuse them but dropping 14 points to four of the bottom five says it all. Has to be considered a collapse.

Form has been mid table excluding the start. Just 44 points from 33 games.

oxf*rd that. Losing to Brentford twice, Bournemouth once and drawing with Barnsley once.

Three of them we led. Reverse those we were winning and we're on 74 points and Bournemouth are on 65, Barnsley 70 and Brentford 70.

We'd be miles clear. Hell, just the Bournemouth debacle reversed would see us 4 points clear of 7th.

Of course that is poor but the defining moments are more throwing away a 2-0 lead at Bournemouth - losing to Brentford when 1-0 up at home. Giving away a needless penalty when comfortable at Barnsley (without that Joao's and Meite's misses would be academic).

Those 3 games against our rivals where we could and should have won will cost us more than anything. We'd be on 74 pts now if we'd held those leads and comfortable.

Only if you ignore the good games but not the bad.

Which is 44 in 29 and puts us on about 70 over the course of a season. Which is just shy of the POs. Exactly where we are.
