Derby reported to be about to buy Krystian Bielik off Arsenal for £10m. And I thought they were sailing perilously close to FFP issues. Presume they must have got a big payout on Lamps.

Not £10m they didn't.

However, will be saving his not insubstantial salary, so that'll probably make up the difference

How many first team games has he played to warrant a 10 million pound fee?

At this rate in 3 years Phil Foden will be valued at 1.2 billion.

Hull have apparently pocketed £9.5m from the Maguire deal. Useful sell on clauses.

Pardon my ignorance

I get that in this thread we might discuss the sales and purchases of players by other clubs / and managerial changes...

But is this the thread to discuss quality/ playing ability / potential of our rivals?

Watching Luton v Boro and might have commented but not sure whether this is the best thread.

Would be nice to have a thread that discusses rival teams, managers, players, styles etc so we might “naturally” build a sense of “the best”

Not sure what the thread should and shouldn’t discuss but a highly entertaining game tonight so far. 2 flawed teams but Luton look a little better than I was expecting

A nice welcome back to the champ

I'm finding it a little weird that we're viewing the pitch from the other side of Kenilworth Road than we used to. Looks odd

In fact it's weird just to see Luton at all... I still think of them as League 2/non league

I’m old enough to remember them actually winning stuff in the old Div1

Great game, had it all

Brilliant/inept keeping, disallowed goals, comically bad missed pens, great long range goals, some seriously fugly wtf-were-you-thinking tats, terrible attempts to play out from the back, generally rubbish defending and 6 goals in all

Can’t see either team threatening at the top based on it anyway

Disagree. Think Luton will be right up there once they get used to the tempo of the league, they played quick, incisive football generally. As you say, there was a little too much messing around with the ball in the wrong area but they’re probably not used to the level of press sustained by the opposition and I think they’ll be right up there once they adapt

Boro, can’t see them doing much mind, woeful in defence and defending crosses

Only one game, but neither team looked top six, but more so, a long way from relegation fodder.

Yes it can change when things settle

Luton is a horrible stadium to play in.

Yes sure Luton will be ok, but they got beat up in that second half and we’re very lucky to get a point. Had it not been for the woeful spot kick, they’d have been comfortably beaten

The EFL thread is to talk in general.

Ie - did you see that hilarious cock up yesterday by Luton? It doesn't directly effect us. So you are welcome to post in my thread.
