Shane Griffin to Cork City

by muirinho » 04 Feb 2017 19:51

2 year deal. Not sure how this works out with the transfer window and so-on - but this is the Irish pre-season, so it may work differently.

Cork City, like all Irish teams, are permanently broke, so I'd be surprised if there was any money involved.

We are delighted. Shane is a local lad, 22 years of age and can play across the back four. He is very athletic, very good on the ball, has a great left peg and is the type of player we have been trying to bring into the club over the last year and a half.

“Shane had done really well at Reading but a change of manager had set him back a bit, so he is coming again now and he is here for two years at a great age.

Good luck to him, can't say I was ever very impressed. Hopefully he's found a level he can make some waves at.

He would be hard pressed not to make waves in the Irish leagues.

Pretty sure the transfer window is just the period of time where you can register players - so being outside of it doesn't actually matter for outgoing players (as long as the club they're going to is within their window)

His chance of making it here vanished once we converted Obita to left back.
