Leaving Games Early...?

by McDermolenko » 27 Mar 2018 20:32

Not too sure whether such a topic has been posted before but looking to come away from all of the Clement talk this / the past week by asking:

Has anybody ever left a game early and ended up regretting it?

My personal highlight would have to be leaving just before Rakels netted the winner against Charlton two years ago

Ooof, that’s a big one to miss. Can’t say I have left a game early and regretted it. It takes a lot for me to walk out early, usually a 3 goal deficit.

I almost left the West Brom cup game early, due to me being at the game with my grandad but convinced him to stay and saw Lita’s hatrick to win the game.

I don't think i've ever left a Reading game early in my life - I see it as a little point of principle.

The only time I ever have is this season actually. Sheff Utd and Brum I left 3 or 4 mins early (but didn’t regret it)

Done it ONCE - and missed Fred Sharpe's later winner against Brighton in November 69. Vowed to never, ever do it again.

Never ever left a game early. Just don't see the point in it really. You spend a lot of money to be there so you may as well stay. Plus anything can happen in football, you never know.

Never left a game early so can't have any regrets in that respect.

I've never left a game early. The closest I've come was Villa in the cup when we got dicked after being 2 nil up so I went to the concourse to watch John Carew's penalty.

I'm also in the "out of principle" camp, oxf*rd knows why though, probably so we can come on threads like these and say "I've never left a game early". Strange really.

I have left games early, but never regretted it. I wouldn't leave if it was one goal in it......

Left early a few times for various reasons and only been caught out on one. When a certain A.Federici scored a late, late equaliser against Cardiff.

I left the Wolves game early back in the Elm Park days when we were losing 1-0 going in to injury time......I was walking down Parkside Road when the equaliser went in and on Westcote Road by the time the winner hit the net.

I was gutted and blamed my dad for making me leave early.......

I don't mind admitting I left Carrow Road before half time last year when we went 5-0 down.

Only ever left 2

Portsmouth away FA cup game in the late '90s when their 3rd went in and Brighton away last season, again when the 3rd went in.
Nothing to regret with these

I left at 3-2 down vs Stoke City in 2001 because my mate's mum was picking us up and waiting in the car park outside B&Q

Of course we scored a last minute equaliser.

Recently I've stayed to the end of almost every game, and regretted it.

In most instances, I've regretted turning up in the first place.

But all that will change on Friday.

I've more often regretted not leaving early when I'm queuing for a bus or train. Two minutes of football vs half an hour in the pub - which would you choose?

Quite.

My mate left Brentford (a) a couple of years back after about an hour even though we won 3-0 as there was no beer. Now that's what you call a proper lad.
