2 things always remember about that game. Kenny stopping a certain own goal outside his area with his hand and just getting a yellow but the ref evening it up by turning down a Sheff Utd penalty late on when Harper kicked Gillespie 10ft in the air.

Yep. 2 really shocking decisions.

My teaching at school was a Sheffield United fan. He was furious about the penalty decision, but also adamant that the yellow card for Kenny was the right decision. No idea what game he was watching. Apparently the rules only said red for stopping a shot, but Convey was ahead of the defender and was going to score.

Overall I remember it being a tight game and you could argue we were fortunate to win. The win away at Ipswich when we went top was when I knew we'd take some stopping.

I forgot about that! Outrageous decision about Kenny.

30 years ago today Sir John Madejski bought the club from Roger Smee.

Where would we be today if he hadn't come along?

Plodding around in L1/L2 still is my guess like Swindon and Oxford

One of the best away days ever. We were so, so good this day and if we had ended up winning 6 or 7-0 it would not have been unexpected.
