Old Man Andrews
Snowflake Royal Well, this is working out well isn't it.

You are now genuinely the best available option Ian.

Gunny Fishcake
Pepe the Horseman Jose Manuel Gomes now odds on with PP and Betfair. Wtf is going on?!

9/1 with SkyBet

This maybe happening and Rio Ave’s José Manuel Martins Teixeira Gomes will indeed be the next manager. The Mirror are going as far as saying talks have been held

https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football ... 1-13738627

He speaks English and has a good reputation in Portugal. Anyone with more knowledge of the Portuguese game able to add something on his background and why he would be good for Reading.

On paper he looks appalling. 12 clubs in 15 years, and has won nothing.

Got Al-Taawoun batting well above their weight. Them and Rio Ave play good football and use youth...

Mostly smaller clubs / relegation favourites he moves to mid upper table tbf.

Reading FC Form (SoccerStats.com)

On six measures, RFC are clearing the bottom 3

It's the dire return from games 1-6 that is pegging us back.

20th Last 6 games (home & away)
18th Last 10 games (home & away)
16th Last 4 home games
18th Last 8 home games
17th Last 4 away games
18th Last 8 away games

Relative Form

PPG last 8 games versus PPG all games - Reading +0.02

Two "big improvers"

+0.79 Hull
+0.61 Preston

+0.13 Rotherham
+0.02 Reading

Whereas Bolton, Wigan, Brentford, Wednesday,
and to some extent, Bristol all look troubled

-0.57 Bolton
-0.51 Wigan
-0.50 Brentford
-0.46 Wednesday
-0.36 Bristol
-0.11 Millwall

Stats normally don't bother me but that one does. Sounds like another mistake. Will keep us up no doubt but sounds like that's all he will achieve. Probably another one that will be sacked December 2019. I just want someone young, up and coming and who has achieved something. Still want Gareth Ainsworth....he fits the bill.....fronting an INXS tribute band helps as well.

Yep, they look a total mess. Very good chance of them going down I reckon

Small sample I admit, but their first half performance I watched vs WBA was abysmal. As poor as I’ve seen

You can still get 33/1 on them going down, which is crazy as they're only three points off the relegation zone.

Shows you the value of Dean Smith. Would have been my first choice for us in an ideal world. Not saying we'd have got him by any means but if he was still at Brentford right now I'd want us to be chucking everything at him and Brentford to get him.

Was very keen on him last year when Stam was floundering. Was my first choice this time last year

Would never have come by the time Stam finally got the boot

Old Man Andrews The players we have are good enough to at least get out of relegation trouble and we need a manager who can get the best from average players and that's not Phil Parkinson.

Time to get real. Whatever the merits of the individual players. Collectively there's not an automatic first team that picks itself. Too many inconsistant performers. In the past 12 months look at the games we've won. Bar one, they've all been against teams in the bottom 8 of the league. Expecting any new manager to achieve something instantly is asking for a miracle at the current time. Probably why there's little interest in the job. Until the future is more certain.

I’m afraid you are correct. Our 2018 playing record is appalling. The few wins we have managed this year have in the main been nervy and backs to the wall affairs. It’s now almost impossible to name our best starting 11 and formation.

It's not that hard. The hard bit is keeping it fit, and it's not brilliant in any case.

...............Jaakkola
Yiadom..Ilori..Moore..Obita
....Rinomhota..Ezatolahi
Meite....Bacuna.......Baldock
............Bodvarsson

Has to be close to agreeable.

Well I don’t agree with that line up or formation and won’t be alone in that view. Not much pace going forward in that side. Ilori should be nowhere near the starting line up and Meite really is a centre forward. I quite like Baldock but we need some pace in the side.
