tidus_mi2 I wouldn't say I'm overly positive but the amount of doom and gloom on here is insane, one win and we can potentially be back up to 21st. We have brought in a new manager to bring a change and didn't look outplayed despite spending the entirety of the game with a man disadvantage.

I'll be interested to see how much backing Gomes gets in January but we have a couple tough games to look at, hopefully we can get something positive.

We haven’t won in virtually two months in the worst ever year in our history. Its hardly surprising many of us are feeling negative.

Rea Ding
Royal_jimmy Bacuna is a oxf*rd awful player. Glad to see the back of him for 3 games.

Agreed. Thinks he is alot better than he is. 23rd end of December, I am really worried now...

It's funny you say that as Mick Gooding said he's been our best player this season.

I don't understand how the opinions can be at such opposite ends of the spectrum.

Yeah, I’m pretty down too, but still back the team.

Come on Reading.

No matter how bizarre and desperate the new managerial appointment may be, this must be yet another new low first, him having 2 red cards in his first game.

I don't see any end to the malaise and deterioration of the club.

Everything is dysfunctional. From top to bottom.

How many of the current squad would even have been considered to just warm the bench in our previous successful Champ Teams?! Same league. Same financial challenges. Same competition. Therein is the scale, magnitude and grassroots of our main problem.

If any of you lot think it is shit at the moment imagine having a Leeds supporting wife!

I had just a little ray of hope that their post Xmas collapse was about to begin when Blackburn scored on 89 minutes, but they conjured another victory.

Looks like we will be two divisions apart next season.

Red cards only count for the competitions in which they are awarded.

Are you sure? I thought for some domestic competitions there was an overlap.

Yes am sure, FA documentation says

COMPETITION SPECIFIC SANCTIONS

This Season will see the addition of Competition Specific Sanctioning for yellow cards in the following Competitions:

Premier League, English Football League, National League, FA Challenge Cup, EFL Cup, FA Trophy

(Please note Discipline in the EFL Trophy is Competition specific for all Discipline and remains unchanged from last season).

Therefore, the accumulation of 5/10/15 Yellow cards in the table above apply only to League matches. The remaining Competitions will carry suspensions in those Competitions only when a player has received 2 yellow cards in that Competition. The FA will release separately the cut off points for each of the Competitions as part of the Competition notifications. Dismissals remain unaffected and apply the same as last season.

Can you explain the very last sentence ?

Exactly. If he isn’t at least in the squad for the Fake Hoops match, I’ll be rather concerned.

Is he fully healed? His 5min cameo last week up at Rovrum has me wondering. Either that, or we’re being cautious and we want him right for Jan, Feb, Mar, etc (cough, cough).

Gomes said he went on the evidence of two training sessions

However big call to leave out your top scorer

I expect he’ll be back pretty quickly tbh.

Your suprising me at the moment. I thought you would be getting behind the new chap and his coaching team?
Your normally positive about new managers.
I can't disagree with you on this one if it's true about Bod.
It's even more worrying that there may not be a plan b if needed......ie throw the big chap up front when your losing.
We can only hope he knows something we don't......

There's usually something I can get behind in a new manager. But this one's record has nothing I can see, and what he's said and done so far ring alarm bells.

Bod doesn't have a great first touch or passing, so I can see why someone wanting to go full on Stam ball might leave him out, but given our options and the fact he's top scorer it's lunacy. It just shows inflexible adherance to a certain style IMO which is going to fail like it did with Stam.

Managed 1 game in which a player got sent off after 9 minutes......

Somebody has bought into BBC Radio Berkshire's xenophobic outlook I see.

I haven't listened to Radio Berks in two years, and couldn't give a monkey's about his nationality so it's doubtful.

It's his record, team selection and comments alongside the total malaise of the club and it's abandonment of our 90s and 2000s philosophy that's the issue.

We certainly have the benefit of watching the same mistakes being made again and again that each new manager hasn't had.

You'd think, wouldn't you, that any new manager coming in would look not just at training, but as much footage as they could get hold of, of previous games.

So that they *didn't* make the same mistakes again.

Because what a player does in match after match should be far more informative that what he does in training.

And yet....
