Everyone is worrying for nothing.

We definitely won't go down.

To do that, we'd have to finish in the bottom three.

Which might happen.

Oh.

The good thing now compared to when all these threads started is that now we're one of four trying to avoid 22nd place rather than one of four trying to avoid the bottom three places.

I do think it could be as much as 45/46 to be safe, Rotherham are consistently picking up points now.

Basildon 21st, 45 points

This, if we are VERY lucky.

My doomsday scenario has us winning only 3 more points - PNE (home), Brentford (home) and Brum (home), meaning we will be 4 adrift of Rotherham come the end of the season. (I see them beating Forest (home), draw with Villa (home), draw at Swansea, draw at home to Brum and getting at least a draw at home to disinterested Middlesbrough on last day of the season). Nothing outrageous in any of those predictions.

For us to get to 45 points, we need Rotherham to just get the above, and we need to get a point at Stoke, hold PNE to a draw at home (their last 10 games have been W7 D3!), nick a win at home to Brentford, (historically not out of the question), nick a point at either Bristol C or more likely a disinterested (by then) Middlesbrough, meaning a nail-biting win at home to Birmingham last day of the season.

We need Rinomhata, Ejaria and Oliviera back for the run in to stand any chance of hitting 45 IMHO.

oxf*rd me I'm shitting it. 3rd tier would be a disaster for this club. Could see the Dai's leaving, us in admin, and then God only knows.

Although rather counter-intuitively so are we. Since 29th Jan we have P9 W3 D3 L3 F9 A13 Pts12 GD-4.

Rotherham's record over the same time is P9 W2 D5 L2 F11 A12 Pts11 GD-1
Millwall P9 W2 D2 L5 F7 A11 Pts8 GD-4
Wigan P9 W1 D4 L4 F7 A14Pts7 GD-7

Ignoring Bolton and Ipswich, is it just possible that both Reading and Rotherham could escape the drop??? We actually have the best record of the bottom 6 over the last 9 games. Replicate that and we'll be fine!!!

But then we look at the current "average position" of our remaining opponents:

Reading = 9.0
Rotherham = 8.9 (so they no have a marginally - very marginally - harder run-in than us)
Millwall = 10.8
Wigan 11.0

I'm running around in circles disappearing up my own rear-end! Bloody football - I hate it, no I love it, no I hate it , oh oxf*rd!!!

Said it last week. Heard it was a ‘non-story’. Well, quite. Hope it stays that way.

3 wins will do it. Anything less and its Russian Roulette. 3 points at Stoke will ease the pressure a little

Wheres the alternative version of the Rougeometer when need one.

My prediction is 45 points and 22nd. I'm making this prediction as I hope I'm wrong and in the last 2 wins the side have scored as I've whinged that we are going down on here

It's not a non story, just we are picking up more points than them over any recent measure - over 6, 8, 10, 12 games we are better.

It doesn't follow that it will stay the same but it should be enough to give us confidence that we can at least match them when we have incredibly similar run-ins. Our last 3 games are the same (Brum, Boro, WBA), we both have Brum at home - we have WBA at home, they have Boro.

Their 2 recent wins came against a collapsing QPR and a Blackburn team we also beat. Outside of that, they are one of only 3 teams to lose to Ipswich and drew with Millwall, Wigan, Wednesday and us. So a similar run of games but picked up less points.

I'm not saying we are going down/staying up but I think people are, perhaps naturally, not looking at what is actually going on but knee-jerking to expected results and talking up equally weak opposition teams as a result.

I'm willing to bet heavily on it being one of the two.

Awsome stuff today - have to admit I look like being badly out with 43 points; Jose deserves huge credit for what he has done.

The 5 loanees we have bought in have without exception improved us, I thought at the time at least a couple would have not panned out.

We have also gone through an awful injury crisis robbing us of key players.

Fair play to the new management team.

Yep. Fair play to Gomes, his record was distinctly unimpressive when he arrived, there was little 'new manager bounce' and some of his loan signings seemed quite questionable.

But he's done exactly what he needed to do and ALL of his loanees have contributed well at some point now.

Most impressive.

With Martinez, Miazga, Baker, Rino and Oliveira we have a very solid spine.

Oliveira looks a realistic perm signing, and I'd have thought we have a good chance with Baker too. Ejaria maybe... but if we could get Miazga and / or Martinez that would be fantastic.

Still a lot of dead wood to clear though. And we must hold onto the likes of Rino etc.

Feeling confident about my 48 prediction. Need 2 wins and 2 draws from the last 7 - feels acheivable now.

Snowball I'm betting a lot on RFC winning at Bolton

I think the psychological lift (if we win) will be MASSIVE

A defeat would be equally devastating.

But I think we are a hugely better team than under Clement. I would expect a big upturn in form and points per game anyway. I worry about Bolton, solely because of the psychological affect of a defeat.

I also think that IF we win at Bolton, relax a little, managed to beat Villa well, we could go on a McDermott type winning run. We are mentally fragile (but getting better) and I think we could easily become a winning side and next year's dark-horses

1-3 W Bolton Away
2-0 W VILLA

1-1 D Wednesday Away
2-0 W BLACKBURN
2-0 L Sheffield United Away <<<<
3-0 W Rotherham
1-2 W Ipswich Away
3-0 W WIGAN

0-1 L LEEDS <<<
0-1 L Stoke Away <<<
2-0 W PRESTON
3-1 L Hull Away <<<<
3-1 L Norwich Away <<<
1-1 D BRENTFORD
1-1 D Bristol Away
1-1 D WBA
1-1 D Boro Away
2-0 W BIRMINGHAM

W 8
D 5
L 5

29 Points from 18 = 1.61 ppg

Final Total 52 Points 16/17/18th

You really are not far off with this so far only about 4 not right but predicted most the wins.
