alfie9 He was sh*te and part of a sh*te team with a bad mentality. Why anyone wants him to stick around is beyond me. Every single mercenary that came in under Clement and Gourlay needs to get out of our club.

Looking for a list of professional footballers who are not 'mercenaries'. Pointless accusation to throw at someone who by definition plays for whoever pays him.
He wasn't noticeably poor for us, given how little we saw of him and he's now being asked to do an utterly different job.
Presumably we should get rid of Jose as he was never much of a player and Coppell was a bad appointment due to his injury record....

Not dissimilar reaction as the one that greeted Steven Reid's arrival.

FFS, he's a young coach in his first job after hanging up his boots. The slate is wiped clean. Give him a chance.

I'm also confused as to how a someone who had 3 clubs in a 20 year playing career is "mercenary" in the sense that people tend to use it regarding football.

Nameless Reckon this could be a good appointment.
Maybe half an eye to a succession plan as Jose won't be here for ever and O'Shea has the credentials to make a good manager. Similar mold to Stam.

Give him a chance.

Our recent history of doing so is sketchy at best.

Steven Reid wasn't too bad for us in his first coaching role.

Exactly but IIRC, the initial reaction to him joining was luke warm at best.

No surprises, it was heralded at the time of his playing retirement...could be the dawning of our new old-age era

He was a big fan of Johnny Cochrane as well.
