NR_Royal It's the first game, get behind the team ffs! Anyone remember how we started the 2005-06 season???

Yeah, with a proper keeper, decent defence, solid midfield and two honest to God actual strikers.

We played well against Plymouth and were a bit unlucky. We got taken to school by Weds.

Trying to avoid a kneejerk reaction. Midfield needs two more and we need a striker that can hold the ball up. Nothing we didn't already know.

Struggling to find any positives tbh.

Is Virginia really any better than Southwood? I do not understand why Southwood was loaned out without being given a chance

It certainly makes no sense to me to bring in a younger less experienced player you know far less about.

I don't understand how Southwood has suddenly turned into prime Iker Casillas.

No one has said that have they. He has not been given a chance during pre season which after an excellent loan he deserved.

People have certainly been hyping him up.

They've seen him in training during pre season, they have scouted him and presumably have analysed all his data from his loan spell and they've decided he's not good enough for what they want.

We need a proper striker, a mid and a GK

And yet they've chosen a 19 year old with no first team experience who has so far looked thoroughly unconvincing on all five goals I've seen him concede in 135 minutes.

Does rather call into question their judgement.

Yep. All three goals today were soft. Mostly down to very poor defending but Virginia could have done better. I also wonder how our scouts have seen of Virginia to make him first choice. It’s a huge call. Personally I think we should have let Walker go and kept Jaakkola.

Give the kid a fair crack (remember those early Habsi days?).

One thing that RFC always tends to have is decent keepers...eventually

Walker had a contract, Jaakkola didn't. If it had been reversed Jaakkola would be here and Walker gone.

AAH was signed as a back up to the newly signed Jonathan Bond, iirc. That went well. Highly rated U21 international without much experience.

Yeah blaming the keeper for an absolute shit show from the entire team is just wrong.

The attack before the corner that lead to their 2nd goal we had 4 players just standing in advanced positions just watching. Not one of them were getting back. It was disgraceful.
