Good things are happening at Reading and the manager seems to know what he's doing. The squad will need time to settle and other teams are investing too so I'm not expecting a significant improvement immediately. On paper a month ago Reading looked like one of the weakest squads in the league, but now I can see them around 16th if no major sales are made. If the squad plays to its potential and utilises the young players well they could even spring a surprise and move further up the table.

I havent seen us play in the flesh for coming on two years and I cant recognise 16/18ths of the players (I reckon I could give Gunter a go) but I think we're fcking shit. Bottom for me.

Woah woah, from thinking we're screwed to a seriously impressive window... I'm pushing up from 18th to a good midtable finish of 12th.

I think we can cool top 6 expectations; this is a newly assembled squad that will take time to gel. Mid table is fine.

Next summer, make 2 or 3 quality additions to build on this squad and aim to be right in the mix.

My wife, who is a black African uses black to describe a black person. Only a racist arsehole wouldn't.

We are 11/4 to finish in the top half! I think that is great value!

Ah shit! That would have been an extra £5k.

Never mind.

We'll be a slow burner for the next 10-15 games while the team settles. If we can be mid table at Christmas, showing promise to improve, I'll be happy.

Anything can happen after that.

My only concern with the signings is the owners' expectations.

Top 6 would be great, but we shouldn't necessarily expect it. Gomes did a miraculous job keeping us up last year and I'm convinced he's the long term man to take us to the Premier League. But, not necessarily this year. If we play good football at times and finish mid table he must stay.

Next season the team will know each other better; 1 or 2 quality additions and we can push on.

My fear is the Dai's now expect promotion, and Gomes could be let go when his contract expires when we finish 11th.

I think the owners expect progress.
I think they are sensible enough to know you don’t go from escaping relegation by a whisker to winning the league in one season whilst balancing the books and not going crazy with transfer fees.
I would guess their expectation for this season is we play better football, that we win more games and score more goals and sit comfortably mid table with perhaps a flirtation with the playoff places.
I suspect once the season is underway they will talk to Jose about extending his contract, maybe a rolling 12 month deal.
I think promotion becomes a topic for discussion in 12 months time, hugely premature to think we can mount a serious challenge this season when the core of the team has maybe trained together once.

Would be happy with 12th - 8th with a push next season.

Need to break this losing habit.
