First choice starting XI

by WestYorksRoyal » 08 Aug 2019 17:48

Simple question. If the whole squad is available, how would you line up? What formation? It seems we're blessed with many options. For the sake of this, I'm leaving out Loader as I expect an announcement soon. Leaving Barrow in though.

Rafael
Yiadom Miazga Moore Obita
Rinomhota Pele
Meite Ejaria Boye
Puscas

Virginia, Morrisson, Swift, Adam, Olise, Barrow, Joao

That bench is awesome. And options beyond it, like Blackett and Barrett.

Yaidom
Moore

Boye
Ejaria
Meite

João

Bench (or other options)

Barrow
Puscas

Olise
Adam
Swift
Blackett
Mac
Baldock

Strength. In. Depth.

Also dependant on Obita getting fit. Otherwise, Blackett.

Let's see how they play first. Key for me is how Pele and the keeper settle in. Would give us a strong base.

I'm guessing Jose will have to rotate the squad to keep everyone happy! i notice both posts above have Swift on the bench, yet three days ago he was our main source of midfield creation and will he be happy coming off the bench week in week out?
Its a great problem to have, and who gets the nod upfront? Puscas or Joao? has to be Puscas for me....

Crazy we’ve spunked about 12.5 mill on two players and one of them will prob always be on the bench. With the way Jose lines up I can’t see he can start both of them. All Wendy fans say Joao never plays as well when starting and always has his best games when coming off the bench.
Def Puscas to start for me he looks a beast but Saturday will come to quick for him so think Joao will start up top and get the first chance to impress and keep the shirt

This could set up in so many ways, but this I think will become our first XI.

We're weak if Yiadom gets injured, and left back looks like it could be better.

I feel most sorry for Novakovic and Barrett, who look like they will need to find new clubs

Players who don’t appear to be even best back up for each position. Gunter probably being the exception

Rafael

Morrisson Miazga Moore Yiadom

Rinomhota Pele

Joao Ejaria Swift

Puscas

Think traditional wing play will be out the window but with options off the bench - its possible

We've made some good signings but I think people are getting carried away. People saying top 6 minimum are forgetting that there quite a few other decent teams in this league...

We (presumably) have taken a step back in the keeping department, but in almost every position otherwise we look far better.

Yiadom - same but more experienced

Moore-Miazga, both excellent, will improve partnership (still relatively new)

Blackett -- same but more experienced

Good cover from Morrison and McIntyre

Rhino - still improving, top quality midfielder
Pele - looks like a high quality DM
Ejaria - fabulous control and ought to improve a great deal in a season
Swift - if released to play higher should be nearer his best
Boye - looks exciting, feels to me like a step up in quality
Adam - some excellent experience, a mentor, Plan B
OLISE - a future star
Barrett - very promising cover

(Barrow, East)

Joao - looks very decent, gives us a genuine target man
Puscas - looks like he could score a lot of goals
Meite - still a rough diamond, but likely to improve
Loader - an 8 Million-pounder now 4th choice (if he stays)

(Barrow)
Baldock - as 4/5th striker (if he stays), great cover
Nova - as Baldock

That is a very decent squad, and it looks like we might have room to spend again in January if we are challenging for top six

I think we should probably see 5 - 10 games from the new guys before talking about how exciting they look or how much they improve us.

We've certainly taken steps to fill the gaping voids in our squad. But other than Miazga and Ejaria who we've seen last season, we've got very little idea how most will do.

I didn't have them on any particular wing. I just put my best 11 out.

How many times have you seen reading play live again ?
