I thought you have a season ticket and go to every game?

That's why I'm going if it's home.

Although I've never said I go to every game.

Oh I thought you did from the way you analyse things.

Yawn.

We've had this message from the Football Supporters Association:

Off to the match this weekend? Think of those Bury fans whose club has been taken away from them. Let's show some solidarity with a minute's applause on the 27th minute at grounds across the country on Saturday/Sunday.

Even though they were an absolute bogey team to us in the 60s and 70s I'm right behind this.

I dunno why it's the 27th minute but it's one to support.

Bury were expelled from the league on the 27th August.

but I don't see why we need to give them a minutes applause for that..
I get it for a death of somebody or a former player or whatever but you cant just start applauding for any old thing that doesn't really effect us.

The financial fragility of the leagues shouldn't be underestimated. Reading are dependent on the benevolence of the current owners.

Isn’t that just a little bit dodgy, might seem like you’d be applauding the FL for expelling them

It's just a way for fans to show solidarity with fans who currently don't have a club to support - probably would have picked a different minute mind. Join in if you want, ignore it if you don't. If I was at the game, I'd join in esp. given the interview with JM that came out today where he suggests we were not too far from being in a similar boat before the Thai's came in.

The Enfield Royal71 is absolutely right here. Bury are nothing to do with us. They do still have a club, they will just have to play a few divisions below next season because they couldn't keep their house in order.

Ent my problem.

As usual, you are one of the few sensible posters on the Team Board

And also, I believe, it's 27 years since the last club were expelled from the League.

Other than that we've been in the same league structure for about a hundred years and their fans feel the same way about their club as we do about ours. To play football you need opponents - it's the game we support as well as our club.

We have had applause/silence for relatives of the club's owners in recent times so to do so for a fellow football club doesn't seem such a bad idea to me.

We have 90 other potential opponents though. Im sorry but im not applauding everything football related. Shall we applaud in the 9th minute because Fernando Torres retired?

Well the club's owners relatives is fair enough.

Another random club? No.

We may aswell do a minute applause for House of Fraser going into administration then!

Seeing as he never played in the football league, I'm going to say that is a pointless example.

Except perhaps that the football club, part of the football family, has been around and known to us for over 100 years whereas relatives of owners haven't been around here at all.
Your House of Fraser example is not a good one.
