BFTG- Forest

by St Pauli » 11 Jan 2020 17:57

I thought of going to this, but wanted to save money (January is a long month).

But was offered free East stand tickets by a colleague (for under 24s). Luckily they didn’t check and I got to spend 90+ minutes calling Scab c/nts from the Nottinghamshire coalfield scab c/nts. They seemed to appreciate the knowledge of their heritage.

10/10

BFTG - Forest

Pretty decent game between two in form sides. Forest had the better of the first half but thought we dominated the second.

Ojaria was up against a really good pairing and didn't get much joy, which made it frustrating that our sole tactic is to get the ball out into the left corner. Shame he got injured just after Adam went off as it handed the momentum and possession to Forest.

Huge shout out to Rafael for stopping that 1v1 with Grabban early in the second. What a bonus to have a reliable keeper

good, was kind’ enough awaiting the ‘inevitable’ ex-player goal thing. :)

Dim Tellor called him Grab-an for the whole game (with the emphasis on the an)

Tbf to Grab-an, he wasn’t utilised correctly by Jaap most of the time.

Hey-ho....glad to hear his silence today

Unbeaten in eight games now which is pleasing, next two games are tough though, Millwall have only lost one game since the reverse fixture, and Forest again who are on a good run

This back four is playing really well at the moment, and if they weren't cheated by the officials, would have kept yet another clean sheet. Missed Joao though and probably should have gone two up top midway through the second half so was disappointed to see Puscas replace Baldock, rather than letting them play together. All in all, a decent point though and good signs ahead

Tuesday night's selection will be interesting. It's a dilemma for Bowen because if he goes second string, we get knocked out and then we lose the next couple, it'll be a bit of a waste. I'd expect to see 5/6 changes with the likes of Rino, Miazga, McCleary and Puscas starting

Good game which unravelled a bit toward the end as far as quality and refereeing decisions. Thought Forest edged the first half without creating too many clear cut chances. First half Gunter performed well, positive without being cavalier. Swift and Ejaria were too complacent on the ball in our third, whatever they did, didn’t come off.

Second half we played well, great keeping after an unfortunate slip by Morrison(?) who had been fine until then (and thereafter). Meite was ineffective going forward but helped defensively so I’d give him a 6. Didn’t see the corner decisions and couldn’t really see if Meite made a meal of the penalty shout. Sow should have seen a card but otherwise it was just niggly fouls by Forest which upset our second half momentum. Could see the Forest goal coming after not really threatening after Grabban’s one on one, but justice done with our equaliser. 8 for Rafael, would have been 9 if he was a little more commanding on crosses/corners.

Blackett had a great game, shame he didn’t get the goal in.

The linesman near our goal who awarded the non-corner wants shooting. Slowly.

Cabral getting a yellow. The florists celebrating the Champions League. Then own goal. Shame, would have been epic if it was Puscas.

Nottingham Forest goal should have been ruled out on a number of counts. Own goal was just. 0-0 would have been a fair result.

Joao out for an extended period is a concern. Needed a target man in the first half.

Ojaria wasn't injured according to Bowen.

Didn’t quite know what to make of Forest. They put us under real pressure for 20 minutes 1st half, but we “largely” dominated the 2nd half, against supposedly a good side.

IMHO

Rafael 8 Again didn’t have a great deal to do fabulous save from Grab.
Gunter 7 Typical Gunter performance, would be better if he could cross.
Blackett 7 Really does offer an attacking outlet, but again one moment when his concentration went.
Moore 6 Generally good, and showed real leadership, but Grab drifted past him twice 2nd half
Morrison 6 Had our best chances 1st half, one horrible moment 2nd half.
Pele 8 MOM He really is showing his qualities now,a real team player.
Adam 6 Never really worked for him,and looked his age at times.
Swift 6 Hit and miss but one great goal saving tackle
Ejaria 7 Forest were queuing up to get him,but still provided moments of magic.
Meite 4 He was generally awful, but TBF bashed them up late on
Baldock 6 Some clever runs but was generally bullied.

Not much to say about the subs, but Puskas was awful.

One again, after a couple of good weeks the ref was awful. How did their CM get a warning on foul number two, then put in another six.The west Lino made a couple of bad calls, but he was a genius compared the disaster on the opposite side.He made four clear and obvious errors.
