3-1 friendly win against Portsmouth

goals from Lucas Joao (Swift assist), Omar Richards and Michael Olise (Masika)

Not seen full line ups from the games but interesting to see who seems to have, or not have, been involved.

Noted Puscas and McCleary both played some part - they didn’t against Chelsea

Guessing Joao will start against Stoke with a midfield looking something like Meite Swift Ejaria Pele/Rino Olise

I don’t think Yiadom has played a part in either game.

Snowflake Royal No need for us to do any extra practice on top of the rest of the season.

Etc etc.

It’s an obvious punchline to a crap joke but actually would think it wouldn’t affect us in the way it might do for Leeds or Millwall for example

Pre C1871 I'd have been tempted to argue it might help given how toxic the environment had got.

But with C1871 mostly doing well, I do think the players will find themselves missing it quite a lot. It will be a very long time since most of them have played competitive games with no crowds. The empty seats and quiet is likely to be quite off putting for anyone.

But yeah, those at the top like Leeds may find it worse having g been used to some raucous backing. Not so sure on what Millwall are like... most home support seems pretty terrible these days unless you're winning regularly.

Would be a tough one to drop Puscas given his form before the break
So may be a case of squeezing both in or use him as an impact sub

To add a bit of perspective, since the Bundesliga has restarted, only 11 of the first 53 games have been a home win so far

Could be a mere coincidence and obviously German football is different to the English but curious stats nonetheless

Didn’t someone go through the games and work out that actually the fixtures featured a high proportion of games with low placed teams at home to high placed teams and the gap between actual results and what might have been predicted was really much narrower, but still a little more weighted towards away teams than usual.

Yeah it is too small a sample size to take anything from. For example 2 of Dortmund's away games were at Paderborn and Düsseldorf - bottom and 3rd from bottom respectively - an away win there is no surprise.

Bayern have won all 3 home games and Dortmund's only loss was against Bayern. They account for 5 of the 11 home wins.

Sutekh
royalp-we Just a thought about the cancelled Spurs game yesterday - do you think the club got a tip off about the failed test at Norwich (who played spurs on Friday)?

Apparently we play Portsmouth today according to BBC Berks reporter.

The Spurs game was cancelled because Norwich and Spurs agreed to play their friendly on Friday as 4 x 30 minutes meaning most of the Spurs squad got a decent run out whereas before Spurs were going to split their squad between the two games. Spurs lost to Norwich 2-1 after leading 1-0.

seems JLow has found out that it was actually us who had the two positive tests - Lucas Boye and Michael Gilkes. Hence the cancellation

Jonathan Low reporting that Michael Gilkes and Lucas Boye both tested positive and are staying away from training at Bearwood as a precaution.

He says that’s the reason behind the Spurs game being scrapped.

Wishing them both a speedy recovery.

Seems strange if we cancelled a game on Saturday due to positive tests that we then played on Sunday.

Am sure there were positive tests but think we just decided a home game was better prep for the restart.

Seems to be the plan to play all midweek home games in daylight then - save on floodlights. Makes sense.

Theres no need to have midwek games kicking off late unless it is for TV coverage. There is no rush hour to worry about for getting the fans there....

This as well - makes no sense to have Hudds or Boro travelling back at say 11pm, if the game is done by 8pm then can be on the road by 9ish.

Thats a bit of a oxf*rd joke to be honest. People are going through financial hardships and out of work. I can't afford to pay 10 pound to watch it. I'll have to pirate a stream.

Its still a darn sight cheaper than going to a game with all the costs incurred, not least the ticket.

You talk of financial hardship but a lot of people (assuming they aren’t redundant already) actually have MORE disposable income because they’re simply not spending as much per week.

Anyway as a STH I welcome this news. #smug

Looks like you'll need to PM me charity / bank details for our bet seeing as I won't be able to meet you to hand over and have a pint. And the season will complete.

Similarly #smug on the free stream front.

:D

Not mathematically out of it yet tho are they? Good man, you can just donate to a charity of your choice (pics for proof tho obvs  )

Avoids the need for any overnight stays.

Yes...see the Millwall v Boro game has been changed to a 3pm kick-off on a Wed for that reason.

Might help us we've only got Derby and Blackburn to play which involve long trips

So has anyone paid for a cardboard cut out of themselves at the Madstad?

Or is it too much to expect anyone to own up?!
