WestYorksRoyal Let's not also forget that Moore is basically on PL wages after the Brighton bid; it would make good sense financially if we could get a fee with him.

I tend to agree with the overall sentiment, but he's been a great servant for the club over the past 4 years. He engages with the fans, is a good role model and captain and he cares for the club. I'm pretty sure we'd have gone down without him in 17/18.

Not to say you're wrong, but I'd be a bit sad to see him go.

Yea I completely agree. It’s more sad than anything as he’s a great role model and cares deeply for the club, as his podcast interviews shows. But moving on could be best for both parties. And I’m excited about another academy prospect coming through. Richards has excited this season.

It shows there is an issue with the recruitment of the senior players (we knew that anyway) when our more consistent performers have come from the academy...Rino, Richards, Olise, McIntyre (in his few games).

It reminds me a bit of when Pearce, Jem & Siggy broke through. Let’s hope we build our future on these guys instead of signings loads of players on inflated wages. Any involvement in Kia J though and we’re in trouble again!

Moore has been one of a small number of excellent signings over the past decade. He is though on very high wages. If we were to sell one of our more valuable players he would be my preferred choice.

Yea I agree with that. I think we’d be a bit short on Cb cover but if McIntyre can come in and replace Moore then that would be ideal.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Swift will be the most sort after, and I’m expecting Puscas to go, but understand Moore being less pivotal than other players

The ideal for me would be McIntyre & Miazga going forwards but wages would be a problem with Miazga. However, I’ve not seen the outside football world mention Miazga much...so he maybe shorter on options than many think

Think we need to sign a CB regardless, but get Moore off the books and a decent fee for him £3m+ and that would probably fund two in fee and wages.

Bowen’s away record must be very good

Just the home form to sort out

Has anyone mentioned the symmetry of these results 50 years apart?

March 1970 - Luton 5 Reading 0
July 2020 - Luton 0 Reading 5

I've waited a bloody long time for that. Eat my shorts, Macdonald - you only got three goals.

Hound Bowen’s away record must be very good

Just the home form to sort out

From a rough count, I make it:
Away: P15, W6, D5, L4 - 1.5 ppg
Home: P15, W6, D3, L6 - 1.4 ppg

Convert a couple of those home losses to draws (like Stoke) and it ain't too bad at all. As is, over a season it's 67 points, solidly top half I'd say. Certainly better than Gomes did last season and he got treated like the second coming. But yeah, a few more wins and points at home would see people happier, even if it was at the expense of away form and we were no better overall.

Hoping to be around 10th next season. Looks like we're close to (my) target of about 14th this season.

We drew with Stoke! The point stands though. Our away form is good enough for a play off push but yet again our home form has been so poor.

Seems reasonable.

I don't know why but CB seems to me the one position that while you can have super players like Sonko, the threshold seems a lot lower to be good. Looking through the years it seems with the exception of Ilori and Gravenberch and a few others generally CBs have been good. Going back to the days of Wdowczyk, through the days of Ginger Ninja, Barry Hunter, Pearce, Miazga, MOrrison, Mariappa, Kish, Primus, Mills, Adie, Sonko, Ingi etc etc the list is endless it just seems like it's quite an easy position to fill. Out of 10 signings chances are 8 will be good and you might get a couple of duds. Unlike, say, pretty much any other position which seems much more specialised and harder to get someone good.

So yeah, as much as I like Moore, if he's having flaps again and costs us a lot of wages yeah for sure get rid as it's not a hard position to fill as the Luton game demonstrated. Yeah sure in the PL you may need really top attributes but where we are anyone half decent will do.

I was at that game in 1970 - in the morning I had watched Huntley and Palmers play at Vauxhall Motors near to Kenilworth Road in a decent level non league game - a friend of mine's dad played for H and P.
I think Luton won at Elm Park in the return game with Macdonald scoring the winner late on.
