It has been mutually agreed by both clubs that our away game at
@MillwallFC
on Wednesday 25th November will now kick off at 7pm

This game has not been selected for TV. nor is it on the red button, but you can follow us at The Den via an iFollow match pass.

Snowball
Snowball

I was thinking about Premiership sides sniffing round
Olise, Ejaria, Rafael, Swift but surely Joao (if he continues
this form) would be perfect for a lower half Prem side in
need of a target man?

and Moore, Richards, Rhino-Laurent

This is a good squad int it?

Am expecting to start seeing some rumours knocking about fairly soon if we keep it going regarding a fair few of the squad. Meite - consistent goal scorer and hard worker as well. maybe not Prem but top league abroad I could see.

Rino has been top class this season and could certainly do a job in the prem. Bit soon for Laurent. Could see interest in any of the other names mentioned there - surely Olise getting the most interest.

Old Man Andrews
Snowflake Royal Keep this up much longer and 05/06 or 20/21 line up could get interesting. Never thought I'd think there'd be a chance of many 106ers being displaced from a greatest XI

Far too early for that kind of talk imo. Lets reevaluate that at Christmas. Should we be 20 points clear at the top and on course for 107 points then fair enough.

Agree. Fantastic start and it does start to feel like it’s beginning to click but the difference between this team and the 05/06 team is that the 05/06 team achieved 106 points and won the league. This team are on track and have real promise but we are only 8 games in.

It's all looking pretty bleak out there with regards to this Covid thing - how long before the brakes are slammed on once again for competitive sport - it's certainly looking unlikely any sort of crowd participation will be allowed until the spring at the earliest. Bearing in mind the importance of momentum, I've been reflecting on the detrimental effect this could have for us this season.

If they end the season early and go with PPG would that mean Wycombe get a playoff place again ?

I think we win the Champions League.

Swansea v Reading on Tuesday 29 December is now a 5pm kick off instead of 7.45pm. Nothing to do with telly as far as I am aware.

And the good news is that the media are now writing Reading off again

Excellent

If they keep this up I may think about betting on us finishing in the play offs

On the 1st January 2021 new transfer regulations will be introduced for U.K. clubs following departure from the EU

For clubs in the Premier and Football League this means

  1. No club will be allowed to sign any overseas players who are under the age of 18
  2. Clubs will be restricted to no more that 3 overseas signings under the age of 21 per season
  3. Clubs will be restricted to no more that 6 overseas signings in total per season
  4. All overseas players wishing to move to the Premier or Football League must meet a “points” criteria laid out in the Government Body Endorsement (GBE) proposal which is based in no. international appearances, perceived quality of the selling club, no of domestic league and continental cup appearances

So basically clubs won’t be allowed to sign the latest hot property overseas 16/17 years olds and are going to be limited to only 3 signings under the ages of 21 from overseas. What that’ll probably mean is the bigger clubs will look to sign more young homegrown talent earlier so from Reading’s perspective protecting the investment in the likes of Olise, Boyce-Clarke etc. becomes even more critical to stop losing youngsters for next to nothing.

It appears that there won’t be any effect in the overall numbers of overseas players in a club’s first team squad but the application of the points system on EU clubs will presumably make it harder to sign some of the more “obscure” talent on the continent.

One would hope similar restrictions will apply to overseas clubs wanting to get the next Danny Loader.

For me it's 100% a bad thing but probably won't affect us too much, any restrictions are a bad thing, yes it will likely encourage the development of homegrown talent but if that wasn't happening already then the issue for me is in the development process of players rather than the transfer rules.

One of the best things about this season is the relationship between manager and players.

It looks like Velko has the rapport that someone like Klopp has. The result is they play with confidence, in almost every game.

I thought when we had the horrible slide with 4 defeats in a row that confidence would drain. But far from it, even in those losses.

And now they look more confident than ever. Olise and Richards obviously stands out, but the likes of Holmes has gained from the managers trust in him and he looked so positive today. Long may it continue.

Agreed; recovery after Bournemouth and the 2nd half capitulation is great and shows inner belief. At the time some compared it to a previous Fulham game, but we've been looking good since.

Would be 3 wins and a draw but for poor refereeing.

Yeh Fulham did come to mind. Think that kicked the team in the guts and they never really recovered.

There's definitely something about this team and manager that we haven't had for a while

Pauno has certainly made a great impression it seems. Genuinely likeable bloke from the outside, his behaviour after Sheff Weds was incredibly calm and balanced. Not got a bad word to say about him, and tbh I dont think he did very much wrong at all on our losing streak either and said so at the time

Yep, can't argue with any of that.
