Old Man Andrews
Snowflake Royal Word on Barnsley.

Thought they were excellent until the harsh red. Play the way I wish we would. But, didn't really have much goal threat... keep up that level of performance, tighten the discipline and add a goalscorer and they should have a pretty good season.

You seem to be obsessed with how good Barnsley are.

Get up there and support them please.

You seem to be obsessed with Ian. Cute. Just ask him out don’t be shy.

That’s the sort of win that successful teams deliver - not at our best, but were patient, managed game well and ruthless enough when needed.

Barnsley have got a very good recent record and will do ok this season.

Swift worries me a bit as two weaker games, but we can’t expect all our creative fires to be firing at once.

Championship is all about momentum and this is the perfect start.

If Riquelme is confirmed the excitement levels could go through the roof.....

I know a lot of people on here hate Aluko and would prefer to see him do badly than prove them wrong ... but I think he did really well when he came on. I'm hoping he proves all the haters wrong ...

+1 That would be a very 2020 thing to happen.

Rafael. 6 One good save. Solid. Distribution iffy early on
Araruna 6 Started well. Tenacious. Passing needs to improve
Richards 9. MoTM Lost count of the times he beat his opponent. Very solid defensively. Loved his performance.
Moore 6 Poor start but solid thereafter
Morrison 6 Solid.
Rinomhota 6 Crucial block and generally quietly effective
Laurent 5 Struggled to impose himself. Silly yellow
Swift 4 Shocking for most of the game
Ejaria 5 Struggled to get involved
Olise 7 Lovely goal and the liveliest of our midfielders
Joao 7 Held the ball up beautifully. Always a threat. Very little service

Meite 7 Crucial to the win and gave us a goal threat.
Can’t comment on on other subs as the laptop went on the blink on 80 minutes.
I haven’t seen a team work harder than Barnsley and we struggled to deal with it.
We looked very ponderous and lacked pace and intensity. Still six points in the board is pleasing but Cardiff will be tough next week and we will need to improve on that.

Congratulations to Olise on his first senior goal. Hopefully many more to come!

The opposition was down to 9 by then. Aluko isn't going to improve on the player we've seen previously. Certainly doesn't fit the new managers high work rate ethic.

I’d be delighted if he suddenly came good. Would be a huge bonus for the team.
I’d be annoyed at the wasted years, but cannot see why anyone would not want him to find his spark...

Great stat doing the rounds on twitter

Since it was founded in 2004, 100% of teams who were top of the Championship after two games have gone on to be promoted #readingfc

Certainly seems legit.

A truly woeful, awful win,. The first half not a shot on target, gifted two really dubious reds especially the second.

Cabral - 7 one good save kept us in, but poor distribution.
Araruna - 5 sloppy.
Morrison - 6 better but a bit slow.
Moore - 5 not good enough.
Richards - 4 wont be here long.
Rinomhota - 6 fair, but needs to get his fitness back
Laurent - 4 cant see the point.
Swift - 4 better we cash him in quick, very poor.
Olise - 8 a great strike, classy player but needs to get more involved.
Ejaria -5 tricky but no end product
Joao - 4 Rubbish.

Meite - 7 made the difference.
Aluko - 6 a few flashes of potential, and put in some great crosses.
Puscas- 4 too greedy, not up to the championship, move him on.

What is reassuring is that if things don’t go well with the first choice system, Meite, Aluko and Riquelme from the bench would offer something different as we saw today.

Big test for us next week in Cardiff and then Watford the following week. Lots of time to recharge the batteries and hopefully Pauno can keep up this feel good factor, it’s long overdue.

Fox Talbot Sorry, top of the table maybe but bucket of cold water. False first.

We didn't have a kick before the first red. We scored with our first chance on 70 mins (or just after the corner).

Thought they were better than us and they should only be halfway up the table.

Anyone think we got a benefit from resting the first XI midweek - having looked at that sluggish first half.

Still - results create momentum.

Might not have had a kick in the first 45 really, but did enough to force Barnsley’s defenders to make the decisions that led to their dismissals.
