Old Man Andrews
Westwood52 TBF I have only seen Holmes play once;from memory the occasion was a total left field selection on debut by Stam. His plus points were yes he is good in the air and despite being a fairly young lad on debut he stood his ground;however he was caught out of position (as you would expect) on a couple of occasions. With Gibson’s arrival it seems likely either he ,McIntyre or both will go out on loan.

He wasn't good at anything on his debut, he was a disaster and should never have been selected by Stam, it wasn't fair on Holmes to just be chucked in like that. Adam Le Fondre tore him a new arsehole all game long.

Holmes had a perfectly decent debut for a kid although having to mark Le Fondre was about as tricky a start as you might find. We've had senior pros have much worse games than Holmes had.
Not sure what other way of making your debut there is other than to be 'chucked in'. A debut is a debut. And he had been due to play the previous game so it wasn't like he had no preparation time

As for his height, he's way bigger than any of our other centre backs, I would think he is 6'4'' whereas the others are a pretty uniform 6'1''

No snap judgement from this quarter.
We have seen quite a bit of him over the years and I would have liked us to have been in for him when Wigan started their fire sale.
With Joao's injury record he would have been a useful addition to our squad and I think you have been a bit dismissive of his ability.

Also it would have made Zip happy to have another Welsh player in our squad.

I feel like there was lots said on the football podcasts about his "premier league" ability. He looks a decent player but wouldn't say he is going to pull up trees.

He looks big enough to pull up trees.

Looks big enough to BE a tree?

Expecting a very tough game. We should play 5 at the back in this or a system where we're protecting the full backs as much as we can. I can see Cardiff attacking Araruna and Richards who aren't defensively minded full backs.

This game will show us how good we are. We could crash down to earth with a bump if we aren't careful.

Prefer that we go out to try and win the game, attack with intensity. Be worried if we sit deep/attempt to play out from the back again (continental style). This squad currently lacks players capable of playing such a system. We'll just end up penned back.

Apparently Swift is injured and won’t play today. Would expect to see Meite come in and Olise move more centrally

Is it a “political” injury? Might he be moving on next week....

One wonders. Be a huge miss. In what is already a midfield lacking in options.

Aluko is an option

Interesting decision. Aluko has shown real promise since his return, and arguably deserves a start.

Meite, OTOH got a vital goal and could have had two. May also not be match fit yet.

Huge miss? Obviously haven't watched either of our games this season.

Good player but not in top form, ATM, and many have said Swift, Ejaria,
Olise all playing is one relative lightweight too many.

Aluko playing for a place is not a bad option,

Meite on right gives us another way of playing and he gets goals,

Puscas playing off Joao is a third way.

Game is about squads. I don't think, because Swift is out, "Oh, no!"

Three centre backs on the subs bench. Interesting.
