If you didn't support Reading, who would you have supported and why?

Best Law and Charlton for me.But they are very crappy now,and a badly run club.At least we managed to have a clear out.The likes of Calamity Jones,Mata,Rojo and co;plus the Glazers dividends mean they cannot bring anyone in.

Fox Talbot
Simmops
Fox Talbot West Brom, Brentford or Millwall.

That’s assuming the stadiums would be open and you could go to matches.

Why those 3?

West Brom are a proper club, fans alright, not impossible regular journey from Berks.

Brentford seems a decent nearby club, reasonable fans, good story, good football, nearby pubs okay, bit like Reading at Elm Park.

Millwall, it’d be a change!

West Brom fans must have gone mental last night.

I’d probably view football the same way I view cricket, and wouldn’t support a team except England.

Crazy to think how much that would change my life.

I'm ashamed to admit it but probably Pompey as I was born in Gosport dockyard and saw my first ever games at Fratton Park where my grandfather was a life president and my Ma and grandma were STHs.
Failing that, Charlton coz my old man was born a couple of stones throws from the Valley and lived the pre- / post-war glory years.

I’ve lived within spitt8ng distance of Watford and Southampton (The Dell) and watched them both a fair bit. Would probably have settled on one of them but it would certainly have been a ‘local’ club.

Oh, and also maybe Palace as my old man has supported them since being a kid and I have been to Selhurst many many times.

Great atmosphere I must say.

I went to the Reading game at the Dell.I was living in Eastleigh at the time,so was in the Southampton end. They locked the Reading fans in after the game finished,so as to avoid trouble. My friends middle aged, middle class ,Dad who was a Senior Manager for a national garden machinery company and Reading fan never got over it.

My side as a youngster and at uni was Leicester - very much a second side now as have been Royals season ticket holder since 2004.

In a bit of a dreamland at the moment topping both tables!

Portsmouth probably as used to live there or Chelsea as supported them in 1970 when they won the FA Cup and Cup Winners Cup. Liked the kit with the stripe down the shorts.

Probably Oxford... Lovely City, always will be an underdog, and I bet the pundits would't give them the grief we always seem to get.

I can't see that I would have supported any other team, having been born and bred in Reading. If you were to ask me if I would support another team now, the answer would still be none. I would of course follow England, (but that is less likely now that Sky appears to be the only place to watch them) and keep an eye on all the other home nations teams.

Coventry.

They were the first team I completed in my first Panini sticker book.
Had a shirt and even went to the ground when up that way just to 'take it in'. Then they went and won the cup too.

I was too busy playing football when I was younger to really care about supporting a club but my mum kept taking me to the Tilehurst end and Reading stuck.

If not Reading or Coventry then probably Basingstoke as I used to play for them.

I'd be looking to non-league. Fisher FC probably, smashing little club.
