Mid Sussex Royal Yiadom and Puscas out until well in to the new year; Arauna back soon after Swift

Was Yiadom literally back for 1 game from a bad injury and now has another bad one? FFS.

Joao could have been just cramp, he's played a lot of minutes. I reckon he'll be rested tomorrow even if fit, as will a couple of others with next week's games V Norwich and Brentford

Update - he's just posted on twitter to Yaks "counting the days until your back bro" sounds like he may be ok?

yep

Think Araruna might be our best RB anyway.

I think you're mad. My ranking would be Yiadom>Holmes>Araruna>/=Esteves.

he might be - genuinely not got enough evidence to say. He played well in a couple and looked a bit ropey in others if I remember

Don't remember him looking ropey.

It might be more accurate to say he's the most traditional of our RBs. Fairly conservative, mostly stays wide, crosses well

wasn't there one game where an early goal or two came down his side with him out of position? may have been a friendly or something, genuinely can't remember. Think he made up for it with a couple of decent crosses and maybe an assist later

might even have been last season for all i know tbh

Cup game against Colchester

Hard to tell yet with him, only played 4/5 times there. Think Yiadom is a fairly good option, albeit has limitations too which IMO stops him from being a top end Champ player

mumbo-jumbo So what is supposed to have happened to Joao? Must have missed that
Understand Meite had a clash with keeper (? head ? knee) but why is everyone talking about them both being out? Will be tough if that's the case

Joao spent the last five minutes barely walking. Looked like his hamstring was playing up.

Have we had any sort of confirmation on whether he is definitely out?

Nope.All quiet.

Joao has travelled apparently, reckon will be on the bench at best but if true that's still excellent news for next week's games.

That is good news and like you, I would expect him to be on the bench with a view ahead to the next few games.

He is obviously generally match fit and I have always thought that sitting around on the bench with a slight injury can make things worse.
Hopefully he starts because just reading in today's paper that Meite and Joao are injury doubts and that Baldock and Aluko might well play has given me a dose of Saturday morning depression.

This squad really is thin isn't it?

Not really.

You take the three best forwards out of any Reading squad and it looks shit.

Hunt and Long upfront in 2005?

Church up front in 2010?

Tyson and Henderson in 2001 ish

Uwe Hartenberger and Alan Carey in 95

We've got a few gaps, the odd quality issue and a stack of injuries in the same area. The squad is much better smaller than it's been when bloated.

I think pretty much every club would struggle with their first 3 strikers out. Norwich gave been dealing with precisely that issue in the past couple of weeks.s

But they are top which implies that despite those injuries they have decent players to come in.

My observation was that OUR squad is a bit thin and am not arguing with Ian about whether it has been in the past-that is a different issue.

My view is that if the owners do want promotion we really do need 2 or 3 more in the window.

.

Norwich dropped 5 points in the 3 games they played with their forwards out injured (against Coventry, Luton and Sheffield Wed) which is more than they dropped in their preceding 9 matches (6 of which were against teams in the Top 10)
