Millsy Let’s just be honest.

We’ve been shite.

It’s been horribly disappointing and we’re gutted.

7th and 21st make no real difference except 7th sounds nicer. Is that really worth the ffp shite we might be in?

We might be calling this season a disaster for years to come. But hey at least we’ve gone from one useless unrelegated league position to another nicer sounding but equally useless unrelegated league position. Woohoo.

We’ve ballsed up. It’s been shit. End of.

To say we are or have been shit or shite is frankly ridiculous,

Stopped reading there.

We’ve not been shite to go from 7 points or so clear of 2nd place, to abysmally crashing out of the playoffs with a whimper? Nothing shite about things after first 8 games?

Puh-lease.

Half of us in my poll early on wouldn’t have even accepted 4th. God knows if the other half ever dreamt we’d NOT make the playoffs but I’d make a fair guess it’d be 1-2% of the most cynical, whatever people now will say to comfort themselves.

I’m just saying it as it is. I’m not trying to fuel some agenda Pauno out or anything like that. I’m just being honest.

I used to get 1000s around me chanting taunts at WoLOLves or whomever it was (I honestly can’t remember now) for cocking up X point leads at the top. We’re lucky not to have crowds in to hear the reverse is all I can say, but they will come.

Yeah sure overall 7th is better than previous seasons, stepwise improvement, finishing 7th is a good season, we’ve done well using kids bla bla I get all that and have argued it myself defending Pauno yeah. And I get that a lot of us like to come across as calm and sensible on HNA, which is boring but admirable. And even to ourselves it is healthy zen stuff to be positive, take a step back, a big breath and say what a good season.

But no amount of mind-healing mental gymnastics and RTGing will take away from the FACT that having somehow got into an incredibly strong position, we monumentally blew it, against most of the stats Dellor pointed out, our intuition and common sense. Anyone suggesting otherwise is not being honest with themselves. The FFP icing on the turdcake that this ballsup might cost us will certainly pull some more people out of their zen safespaces in the coming months.

So I’ll say it again:

We’ve ballsed up. It’s been shit.

These two statements are NOT equivalent.

We’ve been shite.

Says the TEAM have been shite. The "top at game 8" stuff is irrelevant. The final table is a measure of THE SEASON.

Say we had started with 8 straight defeats, steadied the boat, started to win, then ended up seventh. Say we had had the EXACT same wins, draws, defeats, goals-for, goals-against... what would you be saying then?

or just say you move our first 4 defeat (Games 9,10,11,12) to the beginning of the season so our first 12 were

LLLLWWWWWWDW = 22 points from 12

It's Mickey-Mouse, knee-jerking because you as a fan are disappointed

It’s been shit

Means, "I'm unhappy because I got too excited when we beat a load of shitty teams.

Derby, Rotherham, Wycombe, are currently 21, 22, 24 in the table

When we played these sides?

Derby was Game 1, but they have been rubbish all season. (21st ATM)

Wycombe were 24th, rock bottom having lost 5 out of 5 games. They outplayed us, had more shots and more shots on target.

Barnsley were 19th when we beat their NINE men and went on to get just one point from their first four games

Rotherham were 18th when we played them and had only won one game out of their first six

Cardiff were 15th when we played them, so rubbish they sacked their manager

Blackburn were 10th when we played them, scoring loads, but terrible defence 3-1-3

Boro were 10th when we played them and had only won one game

Watford were 5th and hadn't settled into their rhythm. We pinched that one

So teams positions before we played them were 24, 21, 19, 18, 15, 10, 10, 5

We just got lucky with the fixtures and had a false impression of how good we were.

I think ALL the top six have had better winning runs than Reading. It's just ours were games 1-8

We then played COVENTRY who were 23rd 1-2-5 and managed to LOSE.

Then Preston (17th) LOST

Then Stoke (11th) LOST

24, 23, 21, 19, 18, 17, 15, 11, 10, 10, 5

Just ONE side in the first 11 games was above 10th

and then we lost to Bournemouth... (4th)

got a draw at Millwall who were 12th... See the pattern yet?

These are League Positions BEFORE we played these teams. By chance we got to play sides not in good form at the time
