Pepe the Horseman Why wasn't he suspended for the Germany game?

I think it’s another suspension. He may already have served a suspension for the red card a few games ago but picked up a yellow v Germany and as a result now has another suspension as an accumulation of a red and a yellow

thought he played pretty well vs Germany to be fair. Made some good runs etc and kept the defence occupied

Per, Canada MNT Head Coach John Herdman.

Junior Hoilett is out with a hamstring tear that he picked up in training in Jamaica prior to the match. He has returned to the UK and rejoined Reading.

Hoilett injured in training with Canada and flying home early. Potential hamstring injury. We could have around 12 of our 23 man senior squad members out for Saturday.

Something like

Moore
Hoilett
Yiadom
Joao
Meite
Azeez
Rinomhota
Hailiovic
McIntyre
Holmes
Morrison
Araruna

Hopefully some of the above will have recovered from their knocks and be available but we seem destined for a permanent injury crisis this season.

They would still find a way to get injured. I think we had four players on international duty this week and two came him early with injuries.

do our medical staff get the blame for these injuries sustained while on international duty ?
Countries should be made to supply replacements to clubs when players miss games due to international injury.

I think it is only fair that we get Alphonso Davies on loan until Hoilett has made a full recovery...

Would think there's some sort of contribution / compensation towards medical expenses.

Obviously, if we are conditioning our players badly, that's going to continue to have an effect on international duty.

Of course they get the blame - dont you know how this board works. Picking up injuries in training is all down to the methods they use and in matches its down to how they are instructed. According to some, slipping in the shower at home is down to Gilkes.

To be fair to our medical team almost all the injuries this year have been impact injuries in matches apart from a few in training. I don't see how you can stop these BUT we do seem to be having a horrendous run of luck this season. Don't forget that as well as the first teamers we have the likes of Stickland. Abbey and Leavy out long term injured to. Even young players that show some sparkle are getting crocked as soon as they make the squad. I make it around 15 players are out at the moment.

If Hoilett has been injured while on international duty I believe that there is financial compensation from either the relevant international association or the governing body operating the competition for which the player had been called up, therefore I presume Reading will receive monies commensurate with JH’s injury/time out of the game.

I also think, but am not sure, that clubs will also claim on their own insurance when a player, not on international duty, suffers an injury that keeps them out of that club’s domestic fixtures.

If that’s the case then I expect the real reason behind Reading’s FFP issues is their ever increasing insurance premiums.

Current injury round up.

13 players now crocked:

  1. Araruna
  2. Azeez
  3. Halilovic
  4. Hoilett
  5. Holmes
  6. Joao
  7. McIntyre
  8. Meite
  9. Moore
  10. Morrison
  11. Rinomhota
  12. Tetek
  13. Yiadom

From the above list it is hoped that Moore and Rinomhota will be available for the game with Barnsley.

Joao, Meite and now Morrison are all listed as long term, that is to say until the new year at least, you can probably add Araruna to that as the club won’t rush into things with him after his recovery.

Hoilett is still to be assessed, perhaps the reported injury with Canada may not be too serious, you never know!

Yiadom is a foot injury suffered at Cardiff.

Azeez, Holmes & McIntyre are probably the next in line to return after Moore/Rinomhota but l’m not expecting them for Barnsley or Blackpool but stranger things have happened .

Fun here isn’t it?

Moore, Dann and Rino back Sat (from today's press conf).

Several others in final stage of recovery so could be Tetek, Holmes, McIntyre, maybe Azeez?

Its only Canada fans on a twitter feed saying Hoilett is hamstring injury

Looking a bit better

I knew it was 13 but couldn’t figure who I missed off...it was Tetek.
I would expect Yids to be fit for Saturday. He had a nasty gash on his leg so I suspect he needed stitches but two weeks down the line I would hope he is ok.

Is there any evidence that we are conditioning players 'badly' ?
but I guess I was expecting someone to want to point the finger at the club for injuries happening elsewhere !

Unfortunately it is also on a couple of new outlets too:

https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/canada-r ... als-panama

Unfortunately for Canada, Junior Hoilett returned to Reading after suffering a hamstring tear leading up to the Jamaica match.

Herdman is also without veteran Junior Hoilett, who has returned to his Reading club in England after suffering a hamstring injury ahead of the Jamaica game.

From Pauno's presser via Twitter:

Key points from Pauno's press conference:
- Liam Moore and Scott Dann both fit to face Barnsley
- Junior Hoilett injury to be assessed later today
- Rinomhota to face late fitness test
- Halilovic out but will be assessed ahead of following week

The consistently high number of injuries, many not impact, plenty out of matches, especially this season, raises obvious questions.
