Nobody is holding anyone down and forcing them to lease a car. If they're successful it will be because they're offering decent deals and have their business plan right.

Thinking about it, my lease car is coming up for renewal. Wonder if they do discounts for Reading fans with membership cards. If they don't they should.

I suspect they might well do that or introduce in the future.

Was announced as part of the shirt deal that STH would get a discount via them, not sure if that applies to members too and if so how much the discount is.

Shouldn't be difficult to do that as the club holds the member database. As long as membership wasn't taken out straight after the deal was announced, should work.

genome It's nice and all that it's something with ties to the area, but I'm scratching my head as to how a local car leasing business has enough money to do something like this. Unless we've sold the stadium name for cheap. Odd...

I've been thinking the same.
You would think a 10-year stadium naming rights contract would be a huge deal for the club and would smash any previous sponsorship deals done by the club.

This article rates the PL clubs potential stadium naming rights for the 19/20 season. Bottom of the heap is Huddersfield at 200,000 per year.

You'd assume Championship clubs would be lower again.

And obviously every penny counts, but it's not an earth shattering amount of money - it may simply have been part of a joint deal with the shirt sponsorship.

Not sure I think it's really worth it if its something like £100k a year. Woo. Hoo. That's not even a month of Moore's salary.

It was stated that the shirt deal was a record for the club at the time and that was before the extension announced today.

Do Reading FC even own the stadium?

Who gets the actual money?

No, the owners do.

They will have arranged the contract so the money goes to the club.

Presumably this can be done on the basis that the naming rights for the stadium would be virtually worthless but for the fact that it's the home of Reading FC.

Wonder if the owners buy a small stake in Select Car Leasing and then aid in the paying a large fee for sponsorship/naming rights of the stadium......

Perhaps one day Select Car Leasing will be the owners of RFC.

Seems a possibility. If their business keeps growing, they become more involved with the club, Dai Yongge wants to become a sleeping partner, two local fans fulfil a dream and buy a share in their club !
Five years later two local lads back working at Tesco having blown their fortune !

They'd have to grow an absolute metric fukton to buy out our owners and the hundreds of millions of debt we're getting into with the..

Their turnover is about on a par with our annual loss.

We all know that it is no longer a sustainable business model. Our Chinese owner has thrown the dice and failed. As far as the losses go they'll be written off. Now it's a question of recouping whatever they can by maintaining the club as an attractive proposition.
