Pauno in

by Millsy » 18 Sep 2021 17:27

(written after the Fulham game)

As anti-Pauno as I've been since the capitulation last season I promised myself if with the 'ridiculous' and inexplicable decision to drop Puscas we manage to win I'd make more of a dick of myself and start a thread in support of Pauno just to balance the other one. Because you can guarantee if we'd not won I'd be on the other thread screaming for him to be sacked after putting Hoilett up front.

Yeah ok mods, you'll probably rightly merge this with the other Pauno thread but a promise is a promise.

People like me (still) discard the first few games of last season as honeymoon luck, but for consistency I'm going to discard the first few games of this season as a seriously depleted squad. Since he has been able to bring in and start using more of HIS signings we've not done too badly.

I'm still sceptical but not to give him a bit of a decent chance after this latest run (including the disappointing QPR result but still a great result!) is criminal.

For now at least PAUNO IN!

Yeah Pauno in.

Obviously at some point Pauno will leave but in the short term? He got us to seventh, he got us playing much better than Bowen, we’re looking good this season if a little inconsistent without Joao and Meite.

I am a Reading fan. I don’t expect us to win every week. If I wanted the manager to be sacked after every dropped point then I’d become a Chelsea fan.

The loss at Huddersfield and blowing that lead lead against QPR got me to crack and think he had no future. But I think it may have been a knee jerk reaction and I was wrong. The new signings are starting to gel and the area we all thought we had issues.....scoring goals.....seems to be a myth. Yeah the defence still needs sorting badly but we seem to be growing slowly and maybe this is the start of a decent run that could push us up there.

Forced into action he should have taken weeks ago with Moore's injury.

Result today made up for the crappy Bristol defeat

Other than that, guess we are pretty much where we should be in the table with the teams we have had available

Some good signs going forward, defence still a worry. Some dodgy tactics on the face of it, but some good stuff to get the last couple of wins

About par I reckon at the moment this year

Fantastic win today. Will be tuning into that god awful programme on quest.

Vital win, let’s hope it gives us a bit of impetus

Agreed, this is where I think most of us expected us to be at this stage. 2 wins in 17 was unacceptable and fans rightly questioned the manager ability to turn thing around as he was just repeating the same shit over and over. I don’t think he had the minerals to drop Moore. The decision was taken out of his hands and low and behold we look competitive again. Let’s see what happens when he’s back.

Nothing to do with his signings then?

Some people will never be happy with Paunovic. He isn't nearly English enough for the tastes of a few.

What an odd thing to say. People’s issue with pauno was/is his ability nothing to do with his nationality. The fact you’ve just bought up nationality out of nowhere makes you sound the person who has a problem with it. :| You did well for a while OMA. Took you a few months to get back to your old ways. You were banned once, I’m sure Graham won’t take to much longer to look through his emails. Tick tock…

No need for this shizz chaps, we won.

Accept victory gracefully.

Yes Moore ‘injured himself out of the team’ as did Cabral

Pauno reset a few things, and got the best from one or two of HIS signings.

7 points from 9, two games to go before the 5 that was his ‘sacking point’

I haven't said anything remotely controversial or bad.

There were many on here who were demanding an English manager to come in, go back and read the threads. If you're capable....

I’d like to stick with southwood even once Cabral is back in contention

I know many wanted Pauno out, understandable and he has his faults but Ive always maintained

A) who would come in and be any better?
B) who can we realistically attract/afford.?
C) let’s be realistic, what with FFP, joao and Meite injured, olise leaving we were always going to find it tough this season
D) let’s give his signings a chance

An unexpected win today, an important win let’s hope we can kick on

I’m cool with having a Serbian manager, no problems

Leaves you wondering what might be but for some spectacularly shit defending.

Could, and arguably should, be on about an extra 5 / 6 points if we could defend a set piece or avoid last minute panic stations.

nothing to do with being Serbian

We just need a decent manager,....and given the current club situation, the injury situation, the boredom of management changes, and the past 3 results....we already have.
