Sutekh Good aerial view of EP sometime in its final years. Hard to believe players did some of their training in the car park behind the away end at some point.

What a glorious hole it was. The stench of burgers and piss will stay with me forever.

^This. As a fan, I spent my first nine years on the Town End, then five years in Norfolk Road 'B' stand, then 18 years on the Tilehurst. Only time I went under the South Bank was when it was absolutely chucking down, e.g. League Cup vs Bury in November 95.

I took a couple of pictures when we played for the last time at Walsall's old Fellows Park ground in a Division 3 game back in early 1990; I remember I took one of the ridiculously high fence in front of the away end, and I also got one of the 2 Reading subs, Ady Williams and Dave Leworthy, warming up.

God knows where they are now but I will try and dig them up.

Happy memories of the old ground, especially the Old Tilehurst Road end............

Tranmere, Play Off Semi Final, 1995. Nogan and Taylor in the first pic; Taylor, Archie and Nogan (in the background) for the 2nd.

We looked genuinely Premier League class that day against a really good Tranmere side.

Must admit, never heard of the Tilehurst Road end.

In my day it was the Tilehurst end. The Southbank was on Tilehurst Road.

Those trolleybuses bring back memories. Going to Christchurch School from Whitley Wood to Millman Road. Then after the family moved to Windsor, if running short of time and not time to walk, making a quick dash from the Station to Broad Street then being whisked along Oxford Road and a sprint up Kensington Road, and into the Town End, until it became the away end. If only I could move like that these days! Nobbers may like to know there is a Trolleybus Museum at Sandtoft near Doncaster where you can still ride on them, sometimes a Reading trolley is running.

Does anyone remember the 1985 white T-shirt’s the club sold to celebrate our record breaking start that season?
The T-shirt showed the full League table after 12 games with the words “Reading first the rest nowhere” printed above the table.

I wore it once in a pub in Cheltenham and received some curious looks. It was a very cheap bit of cloth.
