Brogue expecting Southwood out the door very soon then, wonder if we will get a fee for him

Would imagine so if there is still 12 months left on his deal.

If we're wanting rid now rather than at the end of his contract I think we'll have to let him go on a free. Can't imagine there's many League 1/2 clubs willing to pay much for a goalkeeper.

Yes he has 12 months left so can only assume we intend to sell/release him early. Shame really as I thought he had potential and most of the times he played last season he had a car crash of a defence in front of him - with constant changes and injuries.

Might get £100k/£200k or something for him.

Happy to be proved wrong but I think £100K is at the absolute top end of what we could expect.

Bouzanis is a close friend of Tom Ince, going back to their 2009 Liverpool youth team days. They have kept in close contact....

Depends what club in L1 it is. If it'd Accrington, then do well for it to be a 6 figure fee, if it's a Charlton or an Ipswich-like team, we may be able to get a good fee for him, around the £250k mark.

We will let him go for nothing I'd think. Getting 100k in our situation won't really do anything for us. Getting a few thousand a week off the wage bill will.

I thought Southwood’s contract would expire in a few days as I doubt we have taken the option to extend by one year. He has been harshly treated imo.

oxf*rd all midfield and no left back, not a lot of money, so let's sign 2 bang average goalkeepers, despite having 3 promising young ones on the books and a very good record of developing Champ+ level keepers.

Boggles the mind.

My hunch says Southwood will join a Premier League team as a homegrown 3rd choice goalkeeper.

I guess time will tell but agree that one decent keeper and a left back would have been much better. Imagine the meltdown when we announce keeper number 3 tomorrow, lol.

I am determined to stay positive but we really need more players in before we play West Ham and Brighton, as more than ever we need the team to gel quickly.

Yep. No chance P.Ince scouted him last season at Sutton. This is friends doing friends favours. We really must be in a desperate state.

Sutton and AFC Wimbledon were in the same division last season? News to me.

So how strong is the chance of João on being on his way to Besiktas for 2.5 mill?
Feels like open season on the squad. Like a closing down sale. Just doesn't feel fair at the minute.
Ok we broke rules but we are hardly Derby. Every day the squad gets weaker, I knew we would lose players, but not this.
I can't help but feel that if Derby hadn't been such a bunch of punts and challenged the EFL and questioned everything, and been awkward, and accepted their punishment, the restrictions on us would have been lighter.

Wouldn't be massively surprised if we were to sell him, although given the interest I reckon we could hold out for more, possibly rising to £4m, but we would do well to get anything above that. Clubs will naturally low-ball us with offers due to our financial situation being out in public, but the longer the window goes on, the more desperate clubs may be if they haven't signed someone else already.

To be fair, unless our finances dictate otherwise, the ball is in our park. We already face an uphill battle to survive in many people's eyes, so why sell our best player and make our team worse? Just hang onto him for 12 months and see if he can get us the goals to survive, if he does (or doesn't) he will leave on a free anyway and it frees up our wage bill even further for next season.

Got the impression he was recommended by Warner

Anyway cheap and come off 2 good seasons. Have no issue with it, might potentially be a decent signing

Certainly happier with this than Lumley

I think he was on the radar but imagine Warner coming in, he will have had a say.

Don't get being pissy that we signed another keeper and not a CM, deals move at different speeds, imagine this is a low cost one so likely ratified by EFL quickly. Deals for outfield players will likely be tougher to get over the line - see the supposed deal for Tucker.
