His dad did say that “if I’m made permanent manager, he’ll have no choice”

Good news

Quality, I really rate him and a 3 year deal to boot.

A three year deal for a 30 plus year old winger can seem like a risk, especially fitness wise, but from what i saw last season Tom Ince looked like one of the leanest and fittest players at the club.
This is a great deal for the club which hopefully gives us a player who has the potential for 10 goals a season which is going to be invaluable this season, as well as numerous assists.

Whilst I am very pleased to have him here, I hope we have kept to a tight wage structure and not pushed the boat out for him. If we have paid him what he was (allegedly) previously on, we could find that most of our budget is used up, - especially with Moore still here.

Not sure about a 3 year deal considering our financial situation, I trust there is a clause in the contract should we be relegated to take a pay cut.

That said, he iis and excellent signing for the club as the more game time he had during his loan period last season the better he looked.

Our agreed settlement with the EFL restricts not only our total wage bill but also what we can pay any individual. Essentially we can’t make ‘marquee’ signings. If the amount he was rumoured to be on at Stoke I reckonhe has taken a very significant reduction to come here.
Thisdeal also proves that we are not limited to the length of contract we can offer....

Was excellent for us last season and hopefully he can repeat the form next year

Pleased to have him on board

Meite, Ince, Ejaria, Puscas and Joao isn’t a bad front 5 if they can stay fit and hang around. Should be enough there to keep us up

About the best we could get in our predicament. Can't be unhappy with this.

I suspect as with Yids the weekly pay isn’t that high but the player has got the protection of a three year deal. They both may have got more money elsewhere but probably only two year deals.

3 year deals are going to be fairly standard this summer for any player up to say 30. Gives them security and know they have a solid wage for 3 years, it'll be the trade off.

Also gives the club a chance to get some fees later if we want to move a player on.

Anyway, happy with this. Was very decent on loan. Right hand side now sorted, need to get the balance on the left now. Oh and a central midfield.

A decent signing. Seemed to have a good work rate and attitude last season. Happy with this one and I assume it knocks the prospect of Hoilett returning on the head.

Why? Hoilett mainly played on the left.

Ince, Meite and Azeez all mainly played on the right.

Ejaria is really the only left sided player we have. Maybe young Scott.

Tom Ince is apparently left footed and started out as a left winger so should equally happy on the left.

He certainly played for us on the left and having him and Meite would seem doubling up. Ejaria moving to the Swift role presumably.

Because Ince can play on the left and, given our financial constraints, we have more pressing needs in other areas of the team. Not sure we should be stockpiling aging wingers when, in reality, we should be looking to the academy to bulk out the squad.

Much as, I liked Hoilett, Ince is a better signing.

Hoilett has been offered a deal though hasn't he?

We would have known how likely Ince signing was going to be before we offered him one, so I would assume signing both was part of the plan.

Fair enough. I'd much rather see Ince play on his 'right' side, Hoilett the same.

My impression is that Paul is in agreement with the current fad of playing people on the 'wrong' side.

My gut says Ince will play right, Ejaria left and Meite either partner Joao or sit on the bench if we stick with 1 up. And given Hoilett has been offered a deal already, I think we're trying for both and you are wrong.

I prefer your way.
