Sutekh Thought I’d give a full update on club naughtiness in the Championship…

Reading are 10th (equal 7th) in the current disciplinary/fair play standings….

Team - Points Amassed
  1. Queens Park Rangers - 22
  2. Millwall - 27
  3. Stoke City - 27
  4. West Bromwich Albion - 27
  5. Luton Town - 28
  6. Norwich City - 31
  7. Huddersfield Town - 32
  8. Birmingham City - 32
  9. Burnley - 32
  10. Reading - 32
  11. Coventry City - 33
  12. Blackburn Rovers - 34
  13. Rotherham United - 34
  14. Watford - 34
  15. Hull City - 35
  16. Wigan Athletic - 36
  17. Bristol City - 38
  18. Sheffield United - 40
  19. Middlesbrough - 41
  20. Preston North End - 42
  21. Swansea City - 42
  22. Blackpool - 43
  23. Cardiff City - 44
  24. Sunderland - 46

Current Reading player disciplinary status:

Name - Points
  1. Andy Yiadom - 5 (1 game suspension served v Bristol City)
  2. Mamadou Loum - 4
  3. Junior Hoilett - 3
  4. Tom Holmes - 3
  5. Sam Hutchinson - 3
  6. Tom Ince - 2
  7. Joe Lumley - 2
  8. Tom McIntyre - 2
  9. Baba Rahman - 2
  10. Tyrese Fornah - 1
  11. Nesta Guinness-Walker - 1
  12. Kelvin Abrefa - 1
  13. Dean Bouzanis - 1
  14. Andy Carroll - 1
  15. Shane Long - 1

Just for the record the naughtiest players in the league are Watford’s Hassane Kamara and Coventry’s Gustavo Hamer who have both reached 9 disciplinary points already and are therefore a booking each away from a 2 game suspension.

That's about where every club should want to be unless they're romping it in the top 3. Middle of the pack. Putting up a fight, but not ill-disciplined.

Just to clarify.

No one is suspended v Preston

Yiadom picked up a sixth booking v Luton but he needs to get to ten bookings to pick up another suspension, for some reason on BBC Berks last night Ady said AY was going to be suspended on Friday but this was incorrect and someone did text in to say so.

Holmes picked up a fourth booking v Burnley so could miss Watford gets another booking v Preston.

Preston is the 19th game after which the target for a suspension becomes 10 bookings, therefore as Holmes is the only Reading player currently with 4 yellows he is the only one at risk of a suspension (barring players being sent off of course).

Current Championship fair play table…

1 Queens Park Rangers - 40
2 West Bromwich Albion - 40
3 Millwall - 42
4 Stoke City - 50
5 Luton Town - 52
6 Wigan Athletic - 52
7 Birmingham City - 53
8 Coventry City - 55
9 Reading - 55
10 Norwich City - 56
11 Huddersfield Town - 57
12 Rotherham United - 57
13 Hull City - 57
14 Sheffield United - 58
15 Burnley - 59
16 Cardiff City - 59
17 Watford - 59
18 Bristol City - 60
19 Middlesbrough - 62
20 Blackburn Rovers - 64
21 Preston North End - 64
22 Swansea City - 68
23 Sunderland - 73
24 Blackpool - 76

Reading discipline record

01 Loum - 9
02 Yiadom - 7
03 Holmes - 6
04 Hoilett - 4
05 Rahman - 4
06 McIntyre - 3
07 Hutchinson - 3
08 Lumley - 3
09 Mbengue - 2
10 Carroll - 2
11 Hendrick - 2
12 Fornah - 1
13 Abrefa - 1
14 Guinness-Walker - 1
15 Ejaria - 1
16 Bouzanis - 1
17 Long - 1
18 Meite - 1

Next amnesty for Reading is game 37 which is a visit to Blackburn in March. Therefore Loum is very likely to be receiving a 2 game ban shortly as I can’t see him getting through 11 games or so unbooked unless he gets injured. Yiadom may be touch and go too.

For the record 434 Championship players have so far been booked at least once

Worst individual offenders currently are:

Hassane Kamara (Watford) - 15 points
Marvin Ekpiteta (Blackpool) - 11 points
Cheddar Evans (Preston) - 10 points
Gabriel Osho (Luton) - 10 points

When does the 10 bookings limit go up to 15? I seem to remember it being around March?

It's up to and including the 37th game.

5 booking is a 1 game ban up to game 19
10 a 2 game ban up to game 37
15 is a 3 game ban up to the end of the season.

Thanks, 7 games then. I'd be surprised if he makes it.

8 games. Managing a booking every 4 games on average, so due 2 more. May be a tightrope by game 37.

Loum will likely reach the 15 fairly easily given what we’ve seen of him so far.

Andy Yiadom is 3 bookings away from a 3 game ban, Loum is 4 yellows away from the same ban. However Loum is now the second most ill-disciplined player in the Championship (behind Watford's Hassane Kamara) while Andy Yiadom is the equal 3rd most ill disciplined player in the Championship (along with Luke O'Nien and Gustavo Hamer).

Between them the two players have landed 1 red and 23 yellows.

Perhaps getting shot of them in the summer though wouldn't be a bad move!

So, after the 2 years of being nice and getting nowhere under VP, at least Ince has at least instilled passion into the team even if it still isn't going anywhere.

Can't see Loum reaching that as he's got another 2 games where he's suspended, which only leaves 6 games and he's got to feature and get booked in 4 of them.

Yiadom is more likely, but still, I wouldn't be expecting it.

Loum and Yiadom are (were recently) in the top 5 (?) worst disciplined players in the Championship.

I'm all for a bit of bite and nasty. Taking one for the team etc. But come on fellows, have a think.

Forget naughty, Tom "Thomas" Ince is the stroppiest player in the team. Not sure where he rates in the rest of the Championship though.

Yiadom and Holmes were both booked at Bristol, AY is now just 2 bookings away from a 3 game ban. Holmes I think is 3 bookings away from a ban and Loum will no doubt resume his steady march to another ban on Monday.
