BFTG - Watford

by Sutekh » 11 Sep 2022 09:37

Well that was different, never been to Vicarage Road before and experienced an atmosphere. Their fans were noisier than usual.

Bit disappointed with the Reading performance and the total failure to have any shots on target or even threaten the Watford penalty area despite the Watford players completely failing to turn up.

Lucky for everyone though that the good run continued despite the performance thanks to several decisions from the referee to award goals to Reading despite the ball failing to hit the back of the net once (or there even being one on the pitch).

Very disappointed with the performance. We’re trying to navigate a particularly difficult time in our history and we need everyone pulling together. You can maybe understand one or two to go missing against a team like Watford, but the entire team? Unforgivable. No movement, no runs, it’s like they weren’t there. And the fans? For one of the closer away days in a heavily-northern league, pitiful support. No one even turned up.

Personally, it reminded me of the performances under Stam and Pauno. The end product was exactly the same but I guess that at least under Stam we had higher possession stats.

I think you're being unduly harsh on them. Yes it wasn't exciting to watch, but when did we last have a game when the defence were so on top that the opposition team didn't even have one shot in the whole match? And they did this without giving a way a single foul or conceding a single corner.

We gave Preston a lot of shit for the lack of goals in their matches but we've somehow witnessed a game where neither team registered a single shot!

INCE OUT!

Full credit to both sets of fans for the
impeccably observed 90 minutes silence. A wonderful tribute to our much missed monarch (no, not Liam Moore)
Pretty sure Aluko played, it was a very Aluko like performance.

Blimey. A Darren 'who ate all the pies' Caskey reference. Blew hot and cold but was probably one of the more talented midfielders from Reading's past. Not entirely sure he was ever that bothered though.

Suuuuuper Super Daz, Suuuuper super Daz, Suuuuuper sper Daz, Super Darren Caskey!

Lost count the number of times we'd get the Southbank going with that.

IIRC he was a big signing for us at the time, wasn't it 750k or so from Spurs. big move for us, but disappointing step down for him hence not seeming that bothered I guess.

happy days

I think Watford is the away game I've been to most.

Oh, and never seen us win.
