Wow, this makes the WBA game pretty tasty, even more so with Gourlay being there. They are the form team in the league atm and will be a good benchmark of where we really are in this league.

We have four points where many predicted 0

The league table is a beautiful place right now.

Reading are now just 2 wins from beating last season’s points total of 41 (albeit a 6 point deduction from the 47 the team actually amassed) but when you compare tables it is the 41 points you see.

Very strange that we’ve won as many games as all but the top three, but lost as many as all but the bottom three

Whilst there is is hardly any points difference between top half and bottom half as of today we have 21 matches to play.
11 home- 6 against top half, 5 against bottom half
10 away- 4 against top half, 6 against bottom half

That's a pretty good mix - much rather have our "tougher" opponents at home where we are undoubtedly stronger this year.

Meanwhile in the table for most clinical (conversion of chances) Championship teams this season (courtesy of footmob)…

  1. Sunderland - 59.46%
  2. Wigan - 54.55%
  3. Reading - 50.00%
  4. Norwich - 50.00%
  5. Middlesbrough - 49.08%
  6. Birmingham - 47.50%
  7. Blackburn - 47.06%
  8. Bristol C - 46.34%
  9. Burnley - 45.45%
  10. Coventry - 45.00%
  11. Hull - 43.18%
  12. Sheff U - 42.86%
  13. Rotherham - 41.67%
  14. Luton - 41.67%
  15. Blackpool - 40.54%
  16. WBA - 36.73%
  17. Swansea - 34.69%
  18. Watford - 32.65%
  19. Stoke - 32.56%
  20. Preston - 30.30%
  21. Huddersfield - 28.57%
  22. Cardiff - 27.59%
  23. QPR - 25.71%
  24. Millwall - 25.57%

This probably is a sign though that Reading do not create or have very many shots, while the likes of QPR and Millwall will have a shed load but just aren’t very accurate.

Surprised to see Blackburn that "low" considering they are actually 23rd for expected goals this season, with expected goals being 0.94. I thought in terms of short conversion they'd have been higher, having said that they've only scored 30 goals this season which is the 3rd worst in the top half, only behind Preston and QPR.

Coincidentally, Rotherham play Blackburn this weekend which is the bottom two of the expected goals table going up against each other. Expecting a boring game maybe?

(Snowballing a bit here)

Interesting* to see from the last 2 league tables on this thread, we have picked up just 8pts in the last 8 games.

However, the gap to the bottom 3 has grown from 11 to 13pts in that time.

We’ve lived the ‘lucky life’ like that over the past two or three seasons tbf, thanks to the shiteness of our rivals.

This season, we are doing enough to not worry too much about our shite rivals

That’s football

Also, given the likelihood that Reading will struggle badly for anything from their next three games (Middlesbrough, Sheff U and Millwall), the next three games for the five sides below Reading are:

Rotherham - 4/3 QPR (h), 11/3 Birmingham C (a), 14/3 Preston (h)
