New Head of Scouting

by Stranded » 07 Feb 2023 11:59

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2023/f ... -scouting/

Jared Dublin joins the club from Sheffield United to head up the clubs scouting network. Seems to be fairly well thought of and going by Sheffield United's recruitment over the past few seasons, seems to be good at his job.

Good to see us continuing to build a decent framework at the club - lots of changes being made by Bowen and Ince.

Yeah that sounds promising for sure, seems like we are building a decent recruitment team now as well which will be crucial for the summer, positive times ahead ensuring we retain our Championship status and no more sanctions are to be imposed on the club.

I doubt he will be stuck for work. Probably be another owner somewhere with little understanding of football that he can leech off.

Looks a decent appointment on paper. Nice to see a structure being out in place anyway

Am sure we will still use him if it is thought his involvement will get a deal over the line. Difference going forward will be he won't be the one running recruitment but a lever we can pull if we need to.

I'll just be glad that every addition won't be met with "This has got Kia all over it" from some idiots, when there is absolutely zero evidence to suggest he is involved.

Presume he’s the guy who “spotted” Sander Berge so certainly has pedigree and hopefully he can unearth a few more like that. Note he’s the akela though so presume he’ll build up a network of “twitchers” across the British Isles and the rest of the world. Wonder if he’ll carry on scouting or just control everything from his office.

Agree that we should use him, I'm just glad it's not him at the head of the decisions anymore (I know this likely wasn't the case in all situations before).

He's obviously got some decent players on his books that we can use.

In fairness it's a pretty honest assessment and Ince is probably right. I've read from numerous different sources that the football club behind the scenes was an utter shambles (although it probably doesn't take a genius to work that out).

Having an actual structure in place and having the staff in place in all departments will be massively helpful. A new medical team wouldn't go amiss either, or at least some more bodies.

He's absolutely spot on.

The very best thing Ince brings to the table in my opinion is that's he's secure enough and brave enough to manage those above him. He's spoken out several times where others would never have done for fear of losing their jobs.

I'm not entirely convinced by certain things with Bowen but the main thing is that him and Ince are both pulling in the same direction. We haven't had a link that coherent since Dai came on board.

You do realise Sander Berge had spent the previous 4 seasons playing in the Champions League and cost £22m?
