It may not match You'll never walk alone. But it could match West Hams Bubbles! Couldn't it?

Already better than that utter toliet Delilah or Norwich's one. I quite like Norwich supporters and they made the best atmosphere froma home crowd this season but their anthem 'On the ball City' is utter pony.

I've always thought Bristol Rover's "Goodnight Irene" was one of the best footie anthems.

Though obviously i didn't think that when it was sung in my face after the 6-0 drubbing...

When Hicks went up... I just can't see this failing to become an anthem for us.

Team's anthems have to come about naturally - generated out of times of celebration and success - they can't be decided by printing words in the local rag, or conducting internet polls.

Sweet Caroline has come about due to our exceptionaly talented players going out to Spain and getting lashed at the end of the most succesful season in the long history of our club. I for one can't think of a better way for an anthem to come about!

True just wanted to see what you lot thought about it :D

Thing is, I voted no, but I've been listening to it all day, loving it.

Can someone vote yes, who would otherwise normally vote no? for the sake of accuracy?

I'm sure I posted this. Maybe it was in a different thread. The re-make of Fever Pitch (USA style) is based around the Boston Red Sox world series winning season and in that it was sung. Sounded great.

I'm delighted Sweet Caroline is becoming Reading's anthem! I grew up on the Southbank and loved the chants, but felt that something was missing because we didn't have an anthem like Delilah, Drink Up Thee Cider or Goodnight Irene.

Like all American sports, the Boston Red Sox atmosphere is almost non-existent, except for when Sweet Caroline comes on in the middle of the 8th inning. It's a brilliant anthem for the Red Sox and will be brilliant for Reading.

Here, the fans interject a few words in the chorus, just as we do in songs like "When skies are grey". The interjections actually sound really good, unlike most Americanizations (you can listen in the link above from M4J11)

Sweet Caroline (ah-ah-ah)
Good times never seemed so good (so good, so good)
I've been inclined (ah-ah-ah)
To believe they never would

I look forward to hearing it sung when I next visit the MadStad - in the Premiership

If the owner of this video could put it on Stretton's site (http://www.readingfc.webbex.net/), that would be great: I'd love to have a copy. (Or PM me if you don't wish to make it publicly available).

Forgive me if I'm being really really slow...

But I just did a quick search on google for it and found this: !

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sweet_Caroline

According to this, whatever the result of our vote, it alreasy is our anthem

Well what can I say... a staunch advocate ever since I supported Reading of an anthem based on teh national anthem as it's just so perfect yet I can't help saying this is a fair enough anthem and most importantly of all the players chose it themselves and there's history to it.

We will probably never have a season this good again (and most probably no team in England will ever have a season this good at this level), so we may as well use it as a reminder of our greatest ever moment.

I'm up for it.

Can't you download it from Google Video?
If you search "Reading FC" there's a few video's on there, including a conga from the QPR game :D
