Arrest Ray Ilsley (repeat ad infinitum) was a particular favourite of mine

We're the left side/ right side was sung a lot in the 80's

as was Oh when the blues go marching/steaming/running in etc.

One special favourite was

Linden Jones has got no flair do dar, do dar, Linden Jones has got no flair do diddle do dar dey etc.

One for the purists was:

In your northern slums etc etc (sung at most northen town fans throughout the 70's and 80's)

'Terry's gunna get ya, Terry's gunna get ya'

Usually 30 seconds after some silky skilled midfielder had just nutmegged Terry Hurlock and about 1 minute before he got sent off!!!!

I remember the famous RFC fan - Rab C Nesbitt singing

"When the sunshines over Elm Park, you can hear the loyal supporters....."

and the hippies in the Tilehurst end singing

"we had fish and chips for tea"..

Was there ever a chant that went something like "hand me down that pile of shit"?

Elm Park 1980's

'One man went to mow, went to mow a meadow.
One man and his dog.....SPOT....went to mow a meadow'
etc etc

Usually not during the game and as BDC has mentioned the 'left side' and 'right side of the bank'

firstdivision It was Blarmy when I got my half year season ticket at Christmas.....very inspirational, I lifted the team and definitely inspired Kevin Kitson and Dave Doyle to bang in goals to secure promotion.

I thank you..

'Cooooome on you Royaaaaaaaals' belowed on the South Bank.

And when did shouting 'You Royals' when the team came out, kick off, etc, suddenly become 'URZZZZ'?! I hate it!

Dr Martens, levver laces,
Levi jeans and clip-on braces,
We're the lads who smash your faces,
In the Reading Southbank

Was quite wary of the skinheads who used to sing that. About 1980.

M0J0 Sorry to post so late on this subject, but it takes me a while to get around
these days so i am often late.

"after the war" back in the forties and fifties ,
when "the south bank" was "under the clock"
the club announcer would start the crowd off by saying "how are my friends "under the clock"
that would start the crowd off singing

"2-4-6-8 who do we apreciate R-E-A-D-I-N-G

(IN UNISON) READING

goodness me is it 2006 already..must rush

There was an advert on T.V. I think about weetabix, Another Bloomin Biscuit, that was my first chant. T.V. in those days were black and white.
Good memories.

hope this brought back some memories for some of the older fans who sang "COME ON YOU BISCUITS" and i hope it brought back memories
of last nights VINDALOO for all you other plastics

My first memories are we're the right side/ left side of the bank!

Away one that sticks in my mind is 'Mad dog give us your coat, Mad dog mad dog give us your coat' sang at cambridge away where it always rains! Shortly after Big Barry Hunter had finished his warm up by seeing how many balls he could boot over the away end and out of the ground! Those were the days!
